Campgrounds and RV parks near Blandinsville, IL

Fishing drives most trips. Argyle Lake holds bass, catfish, and bluegill, and the Mississippi River at Delabar produces channel catfish, crappie, and largemouth bass from the boat ramp on the south end of the park. Nauvoo State Park adds another fishing option within easy reach of Nauvoo RV Park. Hikers can pick up five miles of foot trails through hardwoods at Argyle Lake, plus shorter loops at Delabar. Birders will find more than fifty species recorded at Delabar in the oak, birch, and hickory woods along the river. Off the campground, visitors tour the historic sites in Nauvoo, the Carthage Jail Historic Site in Carthage, and Mississippi River overlooks along the Great River Road.

Late spring through early fall is the core RV season. May through September brings warm days, active fishing, and full campground operations at the Illinois state parks. Summer weekends fill first at Argyle Lake and Nauvoo, so reserving several weeks ahead is standard for holiday periods. Spring can bring Mississippi River flooding that affects riverside access at Delabar and Nauvoo RV Park. Check park alerts before arrival, especially in April and early May. Ticks and mosquitoes are active from late spring through summer, and campers should plan on repellent and regular tick checks in wooded loops. Fall delivers cooler nights, thinner crowds, and strong color in the oak-hickory woods around Argyle Lake. Winter camping is limited: Argyle Lake and Weinberg-King are listed as open year-round, but water hookups shut off in cold months and bathhouses often close. Weinberg-King also draws cross-country skiers and snowmobilers when snow allows.

Sites in this area lean rustic. Most state park loops offer 30-amp electric with shared water spigots and a central dump station rather than full hookups at each pad. Delabar State Park has around 50 electric sites with 30-amp power, water available, a dump station, and accommodates rigs up to about 40 feet. Argyle Lake's Twisted Oak loop provides 86 Class A sites with showers and electricity. Cell service varies. Weinberg-King is reported to have usable cell coverage; expect weaker signal in the wooded ravines at Argyle Lake and Delabar. Bring drinking water, insect repellent, and a plan for supplies. Small towns like Blandinsville, Colchester, Carthage, and Nauvoo have basic groceries and fuel, but the nearest full-service shopping is in Macomb.
