Campgrounds and RV parks near Cisne, IL

Cisne sits in Wayne County in southeastern Illinois, roughly midway between Fairfield and Flora and within an easy drive of Interstate 64. The area is farm country, quiet and flat, with campgrounds spread across a mix of state recreation lands, interstate stopovers, and small private RV parks. Most travelers use Cisne as a base for lake fishing, old-growth forest hikes along the Wabash River, or as a convenient overnight on the run between St. Louis and Louisville. The closest full-service state option is Oak Ridge Campground at Stephen A. Forbes State Recreation Area, about a half-hour north near Kinmundy on a 585-acre lake. To the southeast near Interstate 64, Grayville / I-64 KOA Holiday handles pull-through RV traffic with full hookups and family amenities. UcamP Express RV Park and Archway RV Park cover smaller-format stays closer in. For a rustic, tree-heavy alternative, Beall Woods State Park near Mount Carmel protects one of the largest remaining tracts of old-growth hardwood forest in Illinois.

Illinois state parks in this region, including Stephen A. Forbes State Recreation Area, use the state's ExploreMoreIL reservation system. At Oak Ridge Campground, 52 sites can be booked online through ExploreMoreIL, while the remainder are held for walk-ups on a first-come basis. Reserve early for holiday weekends and summer Saturdays. Beall Woods State Park runs a smaller, rustic campground with no electricity, and sites are handled first-come, first-served, so arriving early in the day improves the odds of a workable RV site. Private parks handle their own bookings. Grayville / I-64 KOA Holiday reserves through the KOA website or app and often needs advance booking for patio sites and cabins in summer. UcamP Express RV Park and Archway RV Park take reservations directly by phone; call ahead for big-rig clearance and hookup type.
