Campgrounds and RV parks near Willisville, IL

Willisville is a small village in Perry County in southern Illinois, positioned within the state's rolling hill country and surrounded by reclaimed strip-mine lands that have become some of the region's best public recreation areas. RV travelers use Willisville as a base for state-run camping on lakes, forests, and shooting-sport grounds, with several sites reachable in under an hour. The closest major public land is Pyramid State Recreation Area, the largest state recreation area in Illinois at 19,701 acres, administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. To the west, Randolph County State Recreation Area (also referenced as Randolph County State Conservation Area) covers 1,101 acres of rolling hill country five miles northeast of Chester and centers on a 65-acre lake. Rolling Hills is one of the campground loops within that park. Private and specialty options fill the gap when state sites are full. Lake Campalot near Percy offers hookups on a small lake, and the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta operates more than 1,000 sites with 50-amp service across the property.

Illinois state-park camping reservations run through the ExploreMoreIL system, which replaced the older Reserve America platform. Reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance and must be booked at least three days before arrival, with a 14-night maximum in any 30-day period. Most Illinois campsites accept reservations May 1 through October 31, though some parks accept them year-round. Pyramid State Recreation Area is different: its Class C, Class D hike-in, equestrian, and youth-group sites are first-come, first-served and cannot be reserved online or by phone, so arrive early on summer weekends. Randolph County State Recreation Area offers a mix of reservable and first-come sites. The World Shooting and Recreational Complex takes reservations April 1 through October 31 through ExploreMoreIL, and Lake Campalot handles bookings directly through the operator.
