Campgrounds and RV parks near Dillsboro, IN

Dillsboro sits in Dearborn County in southeastern Indiana, within easy reach of the Ohio River and the wooded ridges of Ripley and Ohio counties. The area is a mix of small towns, farmland, and hardwood forest, and it draws RV travelers headed to Cincinnati (about 40 miles east), the Ohio River Scenic Byway, and southern Indiana's state parks. The closest large public campground is at Versailles State Park, Indiana's second-largest state park, which encompasses 5,989 acres in southeastern Indiana and is managed by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Private options within a short drive include the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association campground in Friendship, Camp Shore Campground on the Ohio River in Aurora, Wheelock Lake Campground, Horsemens - Versailles State Park for equestrian users, and Drakes Ridge Rustic Nudist Retreat. Most sites in the area handle standard travel-trailer and Class C rigs. Big-rig owners should confirm site length and pull-through availability directly with the campground before booking.

Reservations at Versailles State Park go through the Indiana DNR reservation system operated by ReserveAmerica. Reservations must be made 1 day ahead of arrival and can be made up to 6 months in advance, so peak summer weekends should be booked as soon as the window opens. When choosing a site, check site details carefully because loops differ in size, terrain, and spacing. Equestrian users have a different process: the equestrian sites at Horsemens - Versailles State Park operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Private campgrounds including National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association, Camp Shore Campground, Wheelock Lake Campground, and Drakes Ridge Rustic Nudist Retreat handle bookings directly by phone or through their own websites. During NMLRA national shoot weeks, book several months out.
