Campgrounds and RV parks near Milan, IN

Milan sits in Ripley County in southeastern Indiana, roughly an hour west of Cincinnati along the I-74 corridor. The surrounding countryside is rolling farmland cut by wooded ravines and creeks, and it supports a mix of state park, private RV, and specialty campgrounds within a short drive of town. The primary public option is Versailles State Park, Indiana's second-largest state park, about 10 miles southwest. Private choices closer to Milan include Wheelock Lake Campground near Dillsboro and Batesville KOA Journey off I-74. Along the Ohio River to the southeast, Camp Shore Campground in Aurora, Indiana sits right on the historic Ohio River and offers riverfront sites and a boat ramp. Specialty camping is also available at the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association grounds in Friendship, southeast of Milan. The NMLRA hosts major national shoots each year and provides on-site camping oriented around those events, with a mix of hookup, electric-only, and primitive areas for modern and traditional campers.

Versailles State Park uses the Indiana DNR reservation system through ReserveAmerica. Reservations must be made 1 day ahead of arrival and can be made up to 6 months in advance, so summer weekends are best locked in early. Sites vary by loop and hookup, so check the site map before confirming. Private campgrounds are booked directly. Wheelock Lake and Camp Shore take reservations by phone or through their websites, and Batesville KOA Journey books through the KOA site or reservation line. Full-hookup and riverfront sites at Camp Shore turn over first for holiday weekends. The NMLRA campground is oriented around club events. Camping is available on NMLRA grounds during major events, and to register you must hold a current NMLRA Membership, so non-members should confirm eligibility before booking a shoot week.
