Rockport camping overview
Rockport sits on a bluff above the Ohio River in Spencer County, in far southwestern Indiana. The town is a practical base for RV travelers exploring the Lincoln Boyhood region, Holiday World and Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus, and the Kentucky lakes across the river. Evansville lies roughly a half hour west for fuel, groceries, and RV service.
Most overnight options cluster within thirty miles. Lincoln State Park Campground offers state-park sites next to the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial. Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph is the large resort next door to Holiday World and books heavily around the theme-park season. Diamond Lake Resort and Diamond Lake Resort Campground sit across the river in Kentucky and cater to lake-focused stays.
For travelers heading toward Owensboro, Windy Hollow Campground RV Park adds another option south of the river. The mix of public parks and private resorts gives RV renters flexibility on hookups, price point, and proximity to specific attractions.
Things to do near Rockport
The Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial and its living-history farm sit next to Lincoln State Park, which offers ten miles of hiking trails, two lakes, and an interpretive center. Families staying at Lincoln State Park Campground can walk or bike between the park and the memorial without moving the rig. Lake Lincoln has been drawn down for dam repairs, so swimming and boat rentals there may be unavailable; check the park's status before counting on water activities.
Holiday World and Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus is the region's biggest draw and pairs naturally with a stay at Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph, which runs a free shuttle to the theme parks. Anglers and boaters use the Ohio River and area lakes, including waters accessed from Diamond Lake Resort and Windy Hollow. Rockport has a riverfront park, and Evansville adds a zoo, museums, and casino for rain-day backups.

The main RV season runs from April through October. Lincoln State Park Campground stays open year-round, but from roughly November through April water is turned off, most dump stations close, and only a reduced set of electric loops remains open, so plan on being self-contained in shoulder season.
Summer is peak. Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph fills weeks in advance whenever Holiday World is operating, particularly on weekends from Memorial Day through mid-August, and again during Halloween Weekends in September and October. Diamond Lake Resort and Windy Hollow Campground RV Park see their heaviest weekends around holidays and organized events.
Spring brings frequent thunderstorms and occasional Ohio River flooding along low-lying access points. Fall is typically the most comfortable stretch, with warm days, cool nights, and steady color through late October. Winter camping is possible but limited to the properties that keep loops open with reduced services.

Great experience all around. Josh answered all questions before the trip promptly. He gave a full rundown of everything we needed to know during the walkthrough. The RV was set up and ready to go when we arrived. We had a wonderful weekend and this took a lot of worry and planning off our plate.

We took Jay's camper from Indiana to California and back and we couldn't have had a better experience! The camper was perfect for two, traveling cross country, with quick and simple set up and tear down. Jay was fantastic, he met us the day before we took off at a campsite and gave us a tutorial for everything. He was very accommodating and easy to communicate with, we would love to book this camper again in the future!

How to book near Rockport
Lincoln State Park Campground is reserved through the Indiana State Parks system at camp.IN.gov, which allows reservations up to twelve months ahead of arrival. Holiday and summer weekends are competitive, so set a reminder for the exact release date.
Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph books directly through the resort's site and, for peak Holiday World and Halloween weekends, often requires minimum stays and books out several months in advance. Diamond Lake Resort, Diamond Lake Resort Campground, and Windy Hollow Campground RV Park take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites.
RV renters should confirm site length, hookup type, and pull-through availability at the time of booking, and note any check-in cutoffs so late arrivals are not turned away.
What to expect on site
Expect a mix of shaded, wooded state-park loops and open resort-style sites. Lincoln State Park Campground offers electric hookups with 30 and 50 amp service, two shower houses, and two dump stations, but no individual sewer at sites and water only at central spigots in winter. A recent tree-removal project has left much of the electric loop with limited shade.
Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph is the most amenity-heavy option, with full-hookup RV sites, cabins, pools, a water park, a camp store, and family programming during the Holiday World season. Diamond Lake Resort, Diamond Lake Resort Campground, and Windy Hollow Campground RV Park offer standard private-park amenities including full or partial hookups, laundry, and lake or pool access.
Roads into the parks are paved and RV friendly, though interior loops can be tight, so measure the rig before booking a specific site.
