Campgrounds and RV parks near Delmar, IA

Delmar sits in Clinton County in eastern Iowa, roughly midway between the Mississippi River bluffs and the interior farmland of the Maquoketa River valley. For RV renters, it works as a low-traffic base for exploring Jackson and Clinton counties, with two of Iowa's more scenic state park campgrounds within a short drive. The closest state park anchor is Maquoketa Caves State Park Campground, about 20 minutes north, which pairs a compact reservable loop with a trail system winding past roughly thirteen caves. Bellevue State Park Dyas Unit Campground sits farther northeast on the Mississippi bluffs and offers electric sites with river overlooks. Interstate RV Park and Palace Camp Ground provide private-park alternatives in the surrounding corridor, while Camp Hauberg offers a wooded riverside setting along the Mississippi. Sites here skew small, so weekend availability tightens quickly in summer. Booking through the Iowa DNR reservation system is the fastest path to a confirmed spot at either state park.

Both nearby state park campgrounds are booked through the Iowa DNR reservation system on the Iowa State Parks ReserveAmerica site. Maquoketa Caves State Park Campground is fully reservable, with a booking window that extends up to three months in advance and stays open as late as the day of arrival, with a same-day cut-off of 9 p.m. Bellevue State Park Dyas Unit Campground reserves roughly half its sites and holds the rest for first-come, first-served self-registration. Private parks such as Interstate RV Park, Camp Hauberg, and Palace Camp Ground take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites, which is useful for larger rigs needing full hookups. A few Iowa DNR rules to note: check-in is 4 p.m., check-out is 3 p.m., no more than six people per site, and firewood must be bought locally to limit invasive pests.
