Campgrounds and RV parks near Walcott, IA

Walcott sits along Interstate 80 in Scott County, about fifteen miles west of the Quad Cities and the Mississippi River. The town is best known as the home of Iowa 80, the world's largest truckstop, which makes it a natural fuel and resupply point for RV travelers crossing the state. Campgrounds within a short drive range from full-hookup commercial parks catering to interstate traffic to quieter state-run sites along the river bluffs. Wildcat Den State Park, southeast of Walcott between Muscatine and Davenport, combines natural beauty and solitude with trails that wind through bluffs and rock outcroppings offering wide views. Interstate RV Park serves travelers looking for pull-through convenience close to the highway, while the Rock Island / Quad Cities KOA Holiday adds standard KOA amenities on the Illinois side of the river. For river-focused stays, Fairport State Recreation Area and Cedar River Campground put RV travelers within easy reach of boating, fishing, and shoreline hiking along the Mississippi and Cedar river corridors.

Advance campsite reservations for Wildcat Den State Park are made through the Iowa state parks online reservation system, and the campground is 100 percent reservable. Reservations must be made four days ahead of arrival and can be made up to twelve months in advance. Fairport State Recreation Area uses the same Iowa DNR reservation platform. The Rock Island / Quad Cities KOA Holiday takes reservations directly through the KOA website or app, which also handles loyalty rewards. Interstate RV Park and Cedar River Campground are privately operated and typically booked by phone or through their own websites. Campers should confirm cancellation terms at booking, since Iowa DNR sites and private operators handle refunds and change fees differently.
