Camping near Belleville, Kansas
Belleville sits in Republic County in north-central Kansas, close to the Nebraska border and roughly halfway between Kansas City and Denver on U.S. Highway 36. It is a practical staging point for RV trips to the Great Plains lake country, with two Kansas state parks and a Nebraska state recreation area all within an easy drive.
Lovewell State Park sits on a 2,900-acre reservoir with a full-service marina north of Belleville and includes the Walleye Point - Lovewell State Park, Cedar Point - Lovewell State Park, and Willow - Lovewell State Park camping areas. To the west, Glen Elder State Park on Waconda Lake adds the Sioux - Glen Elder State Park loop and one of the largest lakes in Kansas.
North across the state line, Rock Creek Station State Recreation Area - Horse Camp near Fairbury, Nebraska offers dedicated equestrian sites adjacent to a preserved Oregon Trail and Pony Express site. Together these parks give RV renters a mix of big-water shoreline sites and quieter prairie camping within about an hour of town.
Things to do near Belleville
Water recreation drives most trips. Lovewell's roughly 2,900-acre reservoir features a full-service marina with bait, tackle, and food service, and anglers target walleye, white bass, wiper, channel catfish, flathead catfish, blue catfish, and crappie. Boat ramps and a swim beach round out lake activities from Walleye Point - Lovewell State Park and Cedar Point - Lovewell State Park.
At Glen Elder, Waconda Lake offers boating, fishing, and swimming, plus wildlife viewing from the Sioux - Glen Elder State Park area. Bald and golden eagles visit in winter, and waterfowl stop on their migrations. The Waconda Heritage Village adds historical context.
At Rock Creek Station - Horse Camp, non-motorized multi-use trails wind through native grasses and wooded areas past creeks and historic Oregon Trail and Pony Express sites.

Rock Creek Station - Horse Camp operates year-round but with reduced amenities in winter, when water service is limited. Summer weekends fill quickly at all three parks, and severe thunderstorms are a real planning factor from late spring through midsummer.
