Campgrounds and RV parks near Coldwater, KS

Coldwater sits in Comanche County in south-central Kansas, on the edge of the Red Hills country and roughly a two-hour drive from Wichita. The town is small and the surrounding landscape is high plains and mixed-grass prairie, so RV travellers typically use Coldwater as a quiet overnight stop or a base for exploring nearby lakes, state parks, and the Oklahoma cavern country to the south. Campground options in and around town run from simple, in-town RV parks to state-park sites across the state line. Red Hills Motel & RV Park sits inside Coldwater itself, while Four Aces RV Park and Evergreen Inn and RV Park serve travellers passing through the wider region. South of the state line, Buffalo RV Park sits on Highway 64, about 38 miles from Alabaster Caverns State Park, making it a practical pairing with a cavern visit. Alabaster Caverns State Park protects one of the largest natural gypsum caves in the world and is the only gypsum show cave open to the public in the United States, which makes it the standout public-land destination for the area.

Oklahoma State Parks, including Alabaster Caverns, use the ReserveAmerica system for individual sites. Alabaster Caverns State Park features reservable RV and tent sites, and campers can book online through the Oklahoma State Parks portal. Some sites at the park may be available only from the campground on a first-come, first-served basis, so calling ahead is worthwhile in shoulder season. Book early for holiday weekends and local event dates, and call the park office at least two weeks in advance for group reservations to receive a confirmation number. For cavern tours, reservations are recommended, especially during major holidays and area-wide events. Smaller private parks such as Red Hills Motel & RV Park, Four Aces RV Park, Buffalo RV Park, and Evergreen Inn and RV Park are booked directly with the operator by phone.
