Campgrounds and RV parks near Albany, KY

Dale Hollow Lake is the main draw. The reservoir is known for smallmouth bass fishing, clear water, and quiet coves suitable for swimming, paddling, and houseboating. Boat ramps and a full-service marina operate out of Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park, and private launches sit closer to Albany on the Kentucky side. On shore, Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park has hiking trails, an 18-hole golf course, and a seasonal swimming pool. Families staying at Dale Hollow Paradise or Foggy Bottom Campground are typically within a short drive of a ramp, a swim area, and general-store supplies. Off the water, the region offers country backroads and day trips south into Tennessee toward the Obey River tailwater trout fishery below Dale Hollow Dam, home to the Dale Hollow National Fish Hatchery.

The RV season around Albany runs roughly from April through October, with peak demand from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Summer brings warm, humid days, active lake use, and the highest occupancy at both state park and private sites. The pool at Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park operates between Memorial Day and Labor Day, which anchors most family bookings to that window. Spring is the wettest stretch, with February typically the rainiest month of the year, and fall tends to be drier with cooler nights and foliage along the lake's wooded shoreline. Water levels on Dale Hollow are typically higher in spring and drawn down through late summer and fall. Winter camping is limited. Kentucky State Parks note that freezing temperatures can affect water and other resources at campgrounds, so RVers travelling in late fall or winter should contact the park directly to confirm hookups, and expect reduced services at private parks as well.

The Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park campground has 144 sites and sits about two miles from the marina, so it is not directly on the water. Rigs should plan for a short drive to reach the ramp and swim area. The park is in the Central time zone, which can trip up travellers arriving from Eastern Kentucky. Kentucky State Parks limit sites to a maximum of 8 occupants and allow up to two units per site. Firewood cannot be imported from outside Kentucky due to Emerald Ash Borer restrictions, and firewood is sold on site. Non-licensed vehicles including golf carts are permitted in state park campgrounds only for individuals with a disability. Private parks in the Albany area vary from basic gravel pull-throughs to full-hookup lakeside sites. Cellular coverage and grocery access are best closer to town and thin out on the lake's back roads.
