Campgrounds and RV parks near Buffalo, KY

Buffalo is an unincorporated community in LaRue County in central Kentucky, a short drive from Hodgenville and Elizabethtown. The area sits near the headwaters of the Nolin River, about fourteen miles from Elizabethtown and roughly fifty miles from Mammoth Cave National Park, which puts RV travelers within reach of national park sites, the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, and Louisville to the north. Most RV parks serving the area cluster around Elizabethtown and Greensburg rather than Buffalo itself. Elizabethtown Crossroads Campground and Etown RV Park are the closest full-service options off Interstate 65, while Green County RV Park and Green Country RV Park sit to the southeast in Greensburg. Bourbon Springs RV Resort in Elizabethtown offers full hookups on plans for 96 spacious sites, positioning it as a newer option along the bourbon corridor. Expect rolling farm country, two-lane rural roads, and easy interstate access. The region works well as either a destination base for Lincoln heritage and distillery visits or as an overnight stop between the Midwest and the South.

Private RV parks near Buffalo take reservations directly through their own websites or through third-party platforms such as Campspot and Good Sam. Elizabethtown Crossroads Campground, Etown RV Park, Green County RV Park, Green Country RV Park, and Bourbon Springs RV Resort all handle bookings this way. Call ahead if a specific site length or hookup configuration matters, since online maps do not always reflect the newest phases at parks still under development. For federal areas in the wider region, campground reservations typically flow through Recreation.gov on a rolling window ahead of arrival. Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park itself is a day-use site with a memorial building, visitor center, and grounds, so plan to camp at a nearby private park and drive in.
