Cummins Ferry RV Park, Campground offers Kentucky River access, a fishing dock, a swimming pool, disc golf, kayak rentals, and roughly two miles of trails for walking, hiking, and biking. Elkhorn Creek RV Park sits where the two forks of Elkhorn Creek join, a well-known stream for fishing, canoeing, and kayaking that leads to the Kentucky River. Weekends at Herrington Lake parks and Kentucky River campgrounds fill quickly, and holiday periods often require longer minimum stays at state facilities. Kentucky State Parks caution that water and other resources may not be available at campgrounds during inclement weather months when freezing temperatures are possible, and campers should contact the park directly to confirm hookups. At the Kentucky Horse Park, only the B and D loops remain open from November 1 to March 31, with the D loop offering electric only and the B loop offering water and electric.

Most private campgrounds around Burgin are compact and family-oriented, with gravel or grass pads and 30-amp service common. Pioneer Playhouse RV campground has 35 sites with 30-amp electric and water hookups, restrooms and showers, and a rustic dump station. Sites there are tight, and many are held by long-term tenants, so it tends to work best as a one- or two-night stop. Cummins Ferry offers full hookups with 30/50-amp service, a swimming pool, camp store, private boat ramp and marina access, covered fishing docks, hiking trails, disc golf, a playground, and fire rings at each site. The Kentucky Horse Park campground has 260 sites with 20/30/50-amp electric and water, paved back-in pads, fire rings, picnic tables, two dump stations, a grocery and gift shop, and two bathhouses. Cell service is generally reliable; Wi-Fi quality varies by park.
