Campgrounds and RV parks near Cloverport, KY

The Ohio River is the area's central attraction, with boat ramps, fishing access, and a riverfront walking path in Cloverport itself. Families with kids often pair a campground stay with Holiday World & Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus, Indiana, an easy day trip from most sites on this list. Lincoln State Park offers about ten miles of hiking trails, an interpretive center, and the adjacent Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, which preserves the site where Abraham Lincoln spent part of his childhood. O'Bannon Woods State Park provides access to the Blue River, a family aquatic center, hiking, and roughly 80 miles of horse trails shared with the surrounding Harrison-Crawford State Forest. Caving, paddling, and smallmouth bass fishing on the Blue River round out the outdoor options.

The Cloverport area follows a humid subtropical pattern with four distinct seasons. Summers are long, hot, and muggy, with July highs in the mid-80s Fahrenheit and frequent afternoon thunderstorms. This is peak camping season: family-oriented parks like Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph fill quickly on weekends tied to Holiday World, and Indiana state-park sites such as Lincoln State Park Campground and the Horsemens Electric - O Bannon Woods State Park loop see strong summer demand. Spring is wet, with notable rainfall through April and May, but it brings wildflowers and cooler hiking weather. Fall typically delivers the most comfortable RV weather of the year, with mild days, lower humidity, and color through the hardwoods along the Ohio River. Winters are cool and damp, with occasional snow and freezing nights. Some private resort amenities scale back in the off-season, while Indiana state-park campgrounds generally remain open year-round, though water at individual loops may be shut off in freezing weather. Note that Lake Lincoln has been drained for dam repairs, and the swimming beach and boat rental at Lincoln State Park remain closed while the lake refills.

Indiana state-park campgrounds use a 2 p.m. check-in and check-out time, shifting to 5 p.m. on Sundays and designated summer holidays, and an Indiana state-park entrance fee applies per vehicle in addition to the campsite charge. Expect a gatehouse stop and a vehicle pass to display on the dash. At O'Bannon Woods, the modern campground has paved interior roads and pads suited to most rigs, while the Horsemens Electric - O Bannon Woods State Park loop is laid out for trucks with horse trailers and supports horse camping with on-site equestrian facilities. Lincoln State Park Campground offers a mix of electric and primitive sites in a wooded setting. Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph is a resort-style park with full hookups, paved sites, a pool complex, mini-golf, and high golf-cart traffic during summer.
