Campgrounds and RV parks near Edmonton, KY

Edmonton is the county seat of Metcalfe County, a rural community in south-central Kentucky positioned along the Cumberland Parkway. The town sits within the Glasgow Micropolitan Statistical Area and provides straightforward RV access to both the cave country to the west and the Cumberland River corridor to the south and east. RV travelers use Edmonton as a base for reaching Mammoth Cave National Park, an underground passageway with over 400 miles of naturally sculpted limestone and sandstone, making it the longest recorded cave system in the world, and Barren River Lake State Resort Park, both roughly 30 to 45 minutes away. Closer to town, Green Country RV Park and Green County RV Park offer basic hookup stays, while Banks of the Cumberland Campground sits directly on the Cumberland River in nearby Burkesville. Further west near Cave City, Sugar Maple RV Park and Cave Country RV Campground serve travelers focused on Mammoth Cave day trips. Between these options, RVers can choose between quiet rural sites near Edmonton or amenity-rich parks closer to the national park entrance.

Reservation systems vary by campground type. The park manages three developed campgrounds and several backcountry campsites, which are available for advance reservation on www.recreation.gov. Reservations are generally available on a 6-month rolling basis, with availability opening up at 10am ET for 6 months out. Booking as soon as the window opens is advised for holiday weekends. Kentucky State Parks, including Barren River Lake State Resort Park, use the ReserveAmerica platform. Reservations must be made 1 day ahead of arrival and can be made up to 12 months in advance. Kentucky campground sites can be occupied by a maximum of 8 occupants. Four adults and children 16 and under are included in the base rate. Private parks such as Cave Country RV Campground, Sugar Maple RV Park, and Banks of the Cumberland Campground book directly through their own websites or platforms like Campspot.
