Campgrounds and RV parks near Fincastle, KY

Fincastle is a small city in eastern Jefferson County, part of the Louisville metropolitan area between Westport Road and Highway 22. For RV travelers, it functions as a quiet residential base with quick access to I-71, I-264, and downtown Louisville attractions like Churchill Downs, the Louisville Slugger Museum, and the Ohio River waterfront. There are no campgrounds inside Fincastle itself, but several RV parks and one substantial state park sit within a short drive. The closest public option is Charlestown State Park, across the Ohio River in southern Indiana. Private RV parks in the metro area include Louisville North Campground, Silver Lakes Motorhome Complex and RV Park, Add-more RV Park, and Brooks RV Park and Campground. Most travelers use the Fincastle area as a hub: park the RV at a full-hookup site near the interstate, then day-trip into the city, out to bourbon country, or south to Mammoth Cave. The mix of a public state park and multiple private parks gives flexibility for both weekenders and longer stays.

Charlestown State Park uses the Indiana State Parks reservation system through ReserveAmerica. Sites can be booked up to six months in advance, with a maximum stay of 14 consecutive nights. The campground has both full-hookup AA sites and electric-only Class A sites, plus modern comfort stations. An entrance fee per vehicle applies on top of the camping fee, and only one vehicle is permitted at each campsite, with overflow parking on site. Private parks near Fincastle, including Louisville North Campground, Silver Lakes Motorhome Complex and RV Park, Add-more RV Park, and Brooks RV Park and Campground, book directly through their own websites or by phone. For Kentucky Derby week, major conventions, and holiday weekends, expect sites to fill months in advance and minimum-night stays to apply.
