The main camping season around Greensburg runs from spring through mid-fall. Green River Lake State Park takes campground reservations from April 1 through October 31, which aligns with the reliable warm-weather window for swimming, boating, and lake activities. Late April through May brings green foliage, dogwood bloom, and comfortable daytime temperatures. Summer is the busiest stretch. Weekends fill first, holiday weekends fill earliest, and longer minimum-night stays are required at most Kentucky State Park campgrounds during holiday periods. Afternoon thunderstorms are common from June through August, and humidity runs high. Fall brings cooler nights, lower humidity, and color through October. Winter camping is limited. Kentucky State Parks cannot guarantee water or other resources at campgrounds during months when freezing temperatures are possible, and travelers are asked to contact the park directly about available resources. Horse Cave KOA Holiday operates year-round, making it the more dependable off-season option in the area.
