Campgrounds and RV parks near Indian Hills, KY

Indian Hills is a small residential city just east of downtown Louisville, Kentucky, sitting between the Ohio River and the I-264 Watterson Expressway. There are no campgrounds inside the city itself, so RV renters base out of parks in nearby Louisville, Clarksville and Jeffersonville (Indiana), and Charlestown, with the closest full-hookup options sitting a short drive across the Ohio River. Louisville North Campground in Clarksville, Indiana is a close year-round RV park to downtown Louisville, with paved sites, full hookups, and quick I-65 access to Churchill Downs, the Louisville Slugger Museum, and the Louisville Zoo. Silver Lakes Motorhome Complex and RV Park and Add-more RV Park round out the immediate metro options, while Brooks RV Park and Campground sits south of the city off I-65 toward Shepherdsville. For a more natural setting, Charlestown State Park is the region's marquee public campground, with over 5,100 acres making it Indiana's third largest state park, sitting along the Ohio River with wooded sites, hiking trails, and a mix of full-hookup and electric-only loops.

Charlestown State Park is reserved through the Indiana Department of Natural Resources reservation system on ReserveAmerica, either online or by phone. Reservations can be made for today and up to 6 months in advance, and booking is strongly recommended for weekends from Memorial Day through October. Indiana charges a daily entrance fee of $7 per vehicle for in-state plates and $15 per vehicle for out-of-state plates, paid in addition to the campsite fee. Private parks, including Louisville North Campground, Silver Lakes Motorhome Complex and RV Park, Add-more RV Park, and Brooks RV Park and Campground, are booked directly with each operator by phone or website. Derby week, Thunder Over Louisville, and major convention weekends fill the closest metro parks first, so lock in dates as early as possible.
