Campgrounds and RV parks near Lebanon Junction, KY

Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest is the main outdoor draw close to Lebanon Junction, with hiking trails, a canopy tree walk, and a visitor center located roughly 15 miles from town. Families with kids often pair a Bernheim visit with a stop at the Jim Beam American Stillhouse in Clermont, about 20 miles away, which runs distillery tours and tastings. Bardstown, about 30 miles east, anchors the Bourbon Trail and is home to My Old Kentucky Home State Park, where guided tours of the Federal Hill mansion cover Stephen Foster and 19th-century Kentucky history. The Kentucky Railway Museum in nearby New Haven runs scenic train excursions. For longer day trips, Mammoth Cave National Park is roughly 60 miles south and offers guided cave tours plus surface hiking, and Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park in Hodgenville sits about 40 miles away.

Spring and fall are the strongest windows for RV travel around Lebanon Junction. Daytime temperatures are mild, humidity is manageable, and shoulder-season traffic at private campgrounds and Bourbon Trail distilleries is lighter than mid-summer. Spring is rainier and more unstable than autumn, and this is an area where tornadoes can form, more likely in spring but sometimes also in autumn. Summers run warm and muggy, with July averaging highs near 88°F and heat indices climbing higher on humid afternoons. Pools at parks like the Louisville South KOA operate Memorial Day through Labor Day, and weekend crafts and games at the KOA run from May until October. Winter camping is possible because several private parks and the KOA operate year-round, but Kentucky State Parks have year-round campgrounds, though the agency cannot guarantee the availability of water or other resources during inclement weather months when freezing temperatures are possible. Bardstown-area campgrounds and My Old Kentucky Home State Park see lighter demand outside the warm months, though Derby week in early May pushes occupancy sharply higher across the Louisville metro.

Private RV parks near Lebanon Junction generally offer full hookups with 30- and 50-amp service, level or near-level pads, laundry, showers, and a mix of pull-through and back-in sites. The Louisville South KOA Holiday can accommodate 90 foot pull-through and 50-amp sites and adds a pool, jumping pillow, nature trails, a dog park, and seasonal weekend activities. Bourbon Springs RV Resort in Elizabethtown offers full hookups, Wi-Fi, picnic tables, and fire pits, with pull-throughs up to 80 feet, plus a catch-and-release pond and pickleball courts. Sites at private parks in populated corridors like this one can sit closer together than state park sites. Kentucky State Park campgrounds tend toward shorter or less level sites with utility pedestals set farther from the pad than at commercial parks. Bringing extension cords, extra water hose, and leveling blocks is a common recommendation. Cell coverage across the corridor is generally reliable on major carriers, though guests should expect road-noise variability at parks close to I-65.
