Campgrounds and RV parks near Lewisport, KY

The Ohio River is the region's main draw. The Lewisport boat ramp provides direct river access for boating and fishing, and Hawesville, just downriver, offers additional ramp access near the Cannelton Lock and Dam tailwater, a well-known fishing spot. Families traveling with kids typically pair a Lewisport-area stay with a day at Holiday World and Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus, Indiana, roughly 30 minutes north across the river. Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph sits next to the theme park and runs free shuttles, and Lincoln State Park Campground is adjacent to the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, with about 10 miles of hiking trails and two lakes for paddling and fishing. Closer in, Diamond Lake Resort adds on-site recreation and stocked-lake fishing, while Windy Hollow Campground RV Park has a swimming beach and pay-lake catfishing.

Peak camping season runs from late April through October. Windy Hollow Campground RV Park operates its main campground from April 1 through October 31, with limited year-round sites available on request. Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph opens in late spring and stays busy through Halloween Weekends in September and October, then hosts the Santa Claus Land of Lights drive-through in November and December. Diamond Lake Resort typically operates through the warm-weather season as well. Summer is hot and humid, with July highs typically near 30°C (86°F) and heavy tree cover at parks like Lincoln State Park providing shade. Summer weekends, and any dates aligned with Holiday World, book earliest: Lake Rudolph and Lincoln State Park routinely fill months out for July and August. Spring brings the wettest months, with April often exceeding 120 mm of rainfall, and low-lying river sites can be affected by high water on the Ohio. Fall is drier and cooler with strong color through late October. Winters are chilly and damp, and most public and private campgrounds in the area are closed or on limited operation.

Sites in the region skew grassy or gravel with mature tree cover. Windy Hollow Campground RV Park caps RV length at about 22 feet and has a mix of full-hookup, water-and-electric, and tent sites, so larger rigs should confirm fit before booking. Lincoln State Park Campground offers electric sites with modern restrooms and showers, and pads are typically gravel with grass surrounds. Diamond Lake Resort and Diamond Lake Resort Campground offer hookup sites with 30 and 50-amp service, and Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph provides full-hookup sites, cabins, and family-focused amenities including a water park, pool, and free shuttle to Holiday World. Expect humid summer nights, biting insects near the lakes, and quiet hours enforced at state parks. Firewood collection is prohibited at Indiana state parks; buy on-site or bring certified heat-treated wood.
