Campgrounds and RV parks near Liberty, KY

Liberty sits in Casey County in south-central Kentucky, roughly halfway between two of the state's biggest water-recreation draws: Green River Lake to the northwest and Lake Cumberland to the south. RV renters using Liberty as a base can reach shoreline campgrounds on both lakes within about an hour, plus Daniel Boone National Forest to the east. The closest RV options are private parks in and around town, including Soggy Bottoms Campground, Pinecrest RV Park Resort, and Off The Hook RV Campground. For lakeside stays, Russell Springs/Lake Cumberland KOA Journey and Cumberland Point Campground and RV Resort put renters near the Lake Cumberland shoreline. Lake Cumberland is the largest man-made lake east of the Mississippi River, and its large surface acreage and over 1,200 miles of shoreline provide a myriad of recreational activities. Most private parks around Liberty offer full hookups and paved access suitable for larger rentals, while the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages several developed campgrounds directly on the lake through the federal reservation system.

Reservation systems vary by campground type. Federal Corps of Engineers sites on Lake Cumberland, including Cumberland Point Campground and RV Resort, are booked through Recreation.gov. The booking window is 6 months in advance, rolling daily, with release at 10:00 AM Eastern Time. For peak summer dates, sites at popular Corps campgrounds often sell out within minutes of the window opening. Kentucky State Parks, including Lake Cumberland State Resort Park, use the state's ReserveAmerica portal for camping reservations. Private parks near Liberty such as Soggy Bottoms Campground, Pinecrest RV Park Resort, Off The Hook RV Campground, and Russell Springs/Lake Cumberland KOA Journey are booked directly with the operator or through third-party listing sites, and generally have shorter lead times than the public campgrounds.
