Campgrounds and RV parks near Morganfield, KY

Morganfield sits in Union County in western Kentucky, near the Ohio River and within easy reach of campgrounds in three states. The town is a practical base for RV travelers heading to lake camping in Kentucky, cave country in southern Illinois, or the Wabash River parks in southwest Indiana. The closest option is Moffit Lake Recreation Area, a county-run park about 10 miles southeast of Morganfield built around a 64-acre lake. Across the Ohio River, Cave-in-rock State Park in Illinois offers bluff-top sites and a well-known river cave. Double M Campground provides another regional choice, and Harmonie State Park Campground near New Harmony, Indiana, delivers a full-service state-park experience about an hour east. Riverview RV Park rounds out the local list with a straightforward hookup stay. Most campgrounds in the area are open spring through fall, with a handful running year-round. Big-rig access, electric hookups, and dump stations are common at the developed parks, while primitive sites are widely available for smaller rigs and tents.

Reservation rules vary by park system. Harmonie State Park Campground books through the Indiana Department of Natural Resources reservation system online or by phone, with bookings accepted up to 12 months ahead and required at least 2 days before arrival. Popular weekends, including the park's Halloween event, sell out early. Cave-in-rock State Park has historically operated on a first-come, first-served basis, though the Illinois DNR has moved several parks toward online reservations, so confirm current status with the site office before arrival. Moffit Lake Recreation Area is managed by Union County, with campsite and cabin bookings handled directly through the park; cancellation policies apply and vary between daily campsites and cabin stays. For private parks such as Double M Campground and Riverview RV Park, call ahead to confirm availability, rig-size limits, and hookups.
