Campgrounds and RV parks near Murray Hill, KY

Murray Hill is a small city in northeastern Jefferson County, Kentucky, part of the Louisville Metro area, with downtown Louisville about 11 miles to the southwest. Its position near I-71 and I-264 puts RV renters within easy reach of campgrounds on both the Kentucky and southern Indiana sides of the Ohio River. The closest public option is Charlestown State Park across the river in Clark County, Indiana. It is Indiana's third-largest state park at roughly 5,100 acres, with a modern campground offering full-hookup sites, electric-only Class A sites, and modern comfort stations. Private parks fill in the gaps: Louisville North Campground sits on the Indiana side near the Ohio River bridges, while Silver Lakes Motorhome Complex and RV Park, Add-more RV Park, and Brooks RV Park and Campground serve travelers heading south toward Elizabethtown and Fort Knox. Most renters use Murray Hill as a base for Louisville attractions and day trips into the Knobs and river valley terrain of southern Indiana.

Charlestown State Park uses the Indiana State Parks reservation system, operated through ReserveAmerica. Sites can be booked online or by phone, and reservations can be made for today and up to six months in advance. A daily vehicle entrance fee applies on top of the site charge, with different rates for in-state and out-of-state plates, and check-in is generally in the afternoon. Private parks handle their own bookings. Louisville North Campground, Silver Lakes Motorhome Complex and RV Park, Add-more RV Park, and Brooks RV Park and Campground each take reservations directly by phone or through their websites. For Derby weekend, holiday weekends, and state fair dates, book two to three months out for private parks and as soon as the state park window opens.
