Campgrounds and RV parks near Northfield, KY

Northfield is a small home rule city in northern Jefferson County, Kentucky, with downtown Louisville about 8 miles to the southwest. Because Northfield sits inside the Louisville metro area, RV travelers typically base themselves at private RV parks in the Louisville-Clarksville corridor and use nearby Indiana state parks for weekend nature trips. Closest to Northfield is Louisville North Campground, a full-hookup RV park just across the Ohio River in Clarksville, Indiana, minutes from downtown attractions via I-65. Silver Lakes Motorhome Complex and RV Park and Add-more RV Park serve travelers who want longer stays or a quieter setting outside the city core, and Brooks RV Park and Campground offers a south-of-Louisville option along the I-65 corridor. For a state-park experience with hiking and river access, Charlestown State Park is the closest public campground. It sits about a half-hour drive from Northfield in Clark County, Indiana, on the banks of the Ohio River.

Public and private campgrounds in this area use different systems. Charlestown State Park reservations are handled through the Indiana Department of Natural Resources reservation platform on ReserveAmerica, and campsites can be booked up to six months in advance. Indiana state parks also charge a daily gate entrance fee that is separate from the camping fee, with different rates for in-state and out-of-state plates. Private parks such as Louisville North Campground, Silver Lakes Motorhome Complex and RV Park, Add-more RV Park, and Brooks RV Park and Campground are booked directly with the operator by phone or through the park's own website. For Derby week, major conventions, and summer holiday weekends, reserve as early as possible; cancellations do occur, but sites regularly sell out months ahead.
