Campgrounds and RV parks near Radcliff, KY

Fort Knox anchors the local sightseeing. The General George Patton Museum of Leadership is open to the public, and the United States Bullion Depository is visible from the perimeter but closed to visitors. Downtown Radcliff has a veterans memorial and a walkable main-street district. Outdoor time is easy to fill. Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area in Brandenburg has miles of hiking, biking, and horse trails along the Ohio River. Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest, Nolin Lake State Park, and Rough River Lake add fishing, swimming, and paddling within an hour's drive. Day trips fan out in every direction: Bardstown and the Kentucky Bourbon Trail to the east, Mammoth Cave National Park to the south, and Louisville's museums and riverfront to the north.

Peak RV season in central Kentucky runs April through October. Late spring and early summer bring green landscapes and warm days but also the wettest weather of the year, with April and May typically the rainiest months. Booking weekends at Corps of Engineers and state park campgrounds well in advance is important during this window, particularly around holiday weekends and for lakeside sites. Summer is hot and humid, with daytime highs frequently in the mid-80s Fahrenheit and thunderstorms possible any afternoon. Swimming beaches at Nolin Lake and Rough River see heavy weekend use from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Fall brings the most comfortable RV weather: warm days, cool nights, lower humidity, and generally drier skies. Foliage typically peaks in late October. Winter is mild by northern standards but wet, with occasional snow and ice. Many state park campgrounds reduce services or close water in the coldest months, while private parks around Radcliff and Elizabethtown generally stay open year-round.

Private parks around Radcliff and Elizabethtown are set up for full-hookup RV travel with 30- and 50-amp service, water, and sewer at most sites, plus laundry and Wi-Fi at the larger properties. Sites tend to be gravel pads with modest spacing; expect close neighbors during summer weekends. Public campgrounds at Corps of Engineers lakes and state parks lean more natural, with wooded sites, electric and water hookups but not always sewer, and central dump stations. Some Kentucky state park loops position utilities farther from the pad, so longer sewer hoses and extension cords are useful. Cell service is generally solid along the I-65 corridor and weaker in valley campgrounds near Fort Knox and Otter Creek. Ticks and mosquitoes are active from spring through fall, and afternoon thunderstorms are common in summer.
