Campgrounds and RV parks near Spring Valley, KY

Spring Valley is a small residential community in Jefferson County, Kentucky, sitting just southeast of downtown Louisville along the Ohio River corridor. For RV renters, it works as a convenient base: interstate access via I-64, I-65, and I-265 puts campgrounds in both Kentucky and southern Indiana within a short drive, and the city's attractions, including the Bourbon Trail, Churchill Downs, and the Louisville Mega Cavern, are all reachable without a long haul. The camping options split into two categories. Private RV parks in and around Louisville offer full hookups, level pads, laundry, and quick highway access, which suits travelers using the area as a stopover or urban basecamp. Public options across the river include Charlestown State Park in Clark County, Indiana, a 5,100-acre park that ranks as the third largest state park in Indiana. Named options in the immediate area include Charlestown State Park, Louisville North Campground, Silver Lakes Motorhome Complex and RV Park, Add-more RV Park, and Brooks RV Park and Campground. Each fits a different trip style, from urban-adjacent full hookup pads to a state park with trails and river views.

Reservation systems vary by campground type. Campsites at Charlestown State Park can be reserved through the Indiana DNR system at Camp.IN.gov or by phone, year-round and up to six months in advance. Same-day reservations are allowed when sites are available. Kentucky State Parks use their own reservation system with similar advance windows. Private parks such as Louisville North Campground, Silver Lakes Motorhome Complex and RV Park, Add-more RV Park, and Brooks RV Park and Campground typically book directly through their own websites or by phone, and many list on third-party aggregators. For Derby week, Thunder Over Louisville, and major summer holidays, book eight to twelve weeks out. Confirm rig-length limits, hookup type, and check-in windows before arrival.
