Campgrounds and RV parks near Mermentau, LA

Mermentau is a small village in Acadia Parish, Louisiana, sitting along the Mermentau River in the heart of the Cajun Prairie. The river, cypress-lined bayous, and surrounding rice country define the outdoor experience here, and the town is a practical base for anglers, birders, and RV travelers touring southwest Louisiana between Lafayette and Lake Charles. RV parks in the immediate area range from full-hookup commercial parks to quieter riverside and rural options. Hidden Pines Campground and Cajun Haven RV Park are among the closest to the village, with Myers Landing and Lost Shoe RV Park nearby for travelers wanting water access or a more remote setting. Lacassine RV Park sits toward the Lacassine National Wildlife Refuge area, useful for visitors focused on the refuge and fishing on Lake Arthur. Interstate 10 runs just north of Mermentau, making Jennings, Crowley, and Lafayette easy day trips for fuel, groceries, dump stations, and repairs. Most RV parks here cater to seasonal anglers and long-haul travelers, so big-rig access and pull-through sites are common.

Private RV parks around Mermentau, including Hidden Pines Campground, Cajun Haven RV Park, Myers Landing, Lost Shoe RV Park, and Lacassine RV Park, take reservations directly through the operators rather than a central portal. Availability is tightest during Mardi Gras weekends, the spring crawfish and festival stretch, and fall waterfowl season, so booking several weeks ahead is prudent for those windows. Lacassine National Wildlife Refuge itself does not permit overnight camping, and admittance is limited to one hour before sunrise until one hour after sunset. Refuge access is free, but hunting and some special activities require permits issued through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Federal recreation reservations, when applicable, are handled through Recreation.gov. For long rigs, confirm site length, hookup amps, and turning access when booking, particularly at smaller riverside parks.
