Campgrounds and RV parks near Springhill, LA

Fishing and boating are the main draws. Cypress Black Bayou is a 340-acre park with 3,000-acre and 700-acre lakes, a sand beach, fishing, camping, cottages and cabins, a petting zoo, nature trails, group shelters, and full hookups for RVs and trailers. Bass and catfish are common catches, and lake-view sites make it practical for larger rigs. Logoly State Park, roughly a half-hour north into Arkansas near Magnolia, is Arkansas' first environmental education state park, and most of its 370 acres comprise a State Natural Area that includes unique plant species and mineral springs. Park facilities also include a bathhouse with hot showers, pavilion, picnic sites, playground, and multiple trails. Day trips to Shreveport-Bossier add museums, casinos, and riverfront attractions, while the annual Springhill Lumberjack Festival each October features sawing and log-splitting contests tied to the town's timber history.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable camping windows in this part of Louisiana. Daytime highs run mild, humidity is manageable, and lakes stay active for fishing. Spring brings the wettest stretch of the year, with heavy rainfall from convective storms and frontal systems, so plan for at least a few washout days. Summer is hot and humid. The summer months are consistently quite warm and humid with high pressure and a moist southerly flow being the dominant feature, and monthly rainfall averages less than 3 inches in August. Thunderstorms, mosquitoes, and the potential for tropical remnants moving north from the Gulf shape the season. Campgrounds remain open, but shaded, full-hookup sites with strong electric service for air conditioning are a priority. Winter is short and generally mild, though cold fronts can drop overnight lows below freezing. The climate is transitional between the subtropical humid type of the south and continental climates to the north, and masses of moderate to severely cold air move periodically through the area in winter. Measurable snow is rare. Peak season at Logoly State Park runs March through November with the park open daily 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., while off-peak December through February hours are shorter on weekends.

Expect a rural, forested setting with pine cover, red-clay soil, and modest infrastructure. Public campgrounds around Springhill lean toward practical rather than resort-style amenities. Cypress Black Bayou offers a sand beach, fishing, camping, cottages and cabins, a petting zoo, nature trails, group shelters, and full hookups for RVs and trailers. Cabins are also available for travelers not bringing an RV. Logoly's campground is equipped with tent sites, RV sites, and modern amenities including electricity, water hookups, and a dump station. Cell service reaches the area, though the location offers minimal commercial amenities beyond the park's nature center. Bring insect repellent through the warm months, be alert for alligators near bayou shorelines, and confirm gate hours before late arrivals. Park gates at Logoly are closed one hour after sunset.
