Campgrounds and RV parks near East Falmouth, MA

Beach days anchor most itineraries. Old Silver Beach, Menauhant Beach, and Falmouth Heights front warm Vineyard Sound water that is generally calmer than the Atlantic side of the Cape. The Shining Sea Bikeway runs from North Falmouth to Woods Hole, passing salt marshes and cranberry bogs, and connects to the Woods Hole ferry dock. Woods Hole itself is worth a half-day for the aquarium, the oceanographic institution exhibits, and the walk-on ferry to Martha's Vineyard. Freshwater swimming, kayaking, and catch-and-release fishing are available at kettle ponds like Peters Pond and Grews Pond. Rainy-day options include the Cape Cod Canal visitor center in Sandwich, Heritage Museums and Gardens, and the shops and seafood restaurants in downtown Falmouth.

Cape Cod's camping season is compressed. Most campgrounds open in April or May and close in September or October, with a few staying open on a limited schedule into November. Peters Pond RV Resort typically runs April 15 through October 15, and Bay View Campgrounds operates May through October. July and August are the busiest and warmest months, with ocean water at its most swimmable and every campground running near capacity. Fourth of July week, the Falmouth Road Race in August, and Woods Hole ferry weekends should be booked well in advance. Late May, June, and September are the sweet spots for RV travelers who want warm weather without the peak crowds. Visits after Labor Day offer thinner crowds while ocean temperatures stay comfortable for swimming. Winter is effectively closed season for private campgrounds in the area. Off-season options through Massachusetts DCR are limited, and Scusset Beach State Reservation restricts off-season stays to self-contained units when restrooms, showers, water, and the dump station are closed.

Full-hookup RV sites are standard at the larger Upper Cape parks. Peters Pond RV Resort offers electric, water, and sewer connections with 30 and 50-amp service, plus WiFi across the property, and Bay View Campgrounds provides a similar hookup standard with 20/30/50-amp service and pull-through sites for larger rigs. Expect family-heavy crowds in summer. Pools, ponds, playgrounds, and scheduled activities are common; quiet, wooded sites are the exception rather than the rule at the larger resorts. Check-in is typically early to mid-afternoon and check-out is late morning. Pet policies vary by park, and most Cape Cod campgrounds allow leashed pets with restrictions. Confirm site length limits and slide-out clearance directly with the park before arrival.
