Campgrounds and RV parks near Marshfield Hills, MA

Marshfield Hills is a coastal village in Plymouth County on the Massachusetts South Shore, roughly 30 miles southeast of Boston. RV travelers use it as a base for South Shore beaches, the Boston Harbor Islands, and the historic Plymouth area. Campgrounds within reach include a large state park with electric-hookup loops, primitive island tent sites reached by ferry, and several private pond-side resorts. The closest full campground is Wompatuck State Park in Hingham, a forested, state-run facility with paved bike trails, electric loops on part of its sites, and a dump station. South of Marshfield Hills, the Plymouth and Carver area concentrates the region's larger private RV parks, including Pinewood Lodge Campgrounds and Ellis Haven Family Campground, both built around freshwater ponds. For a coastal, boat-in experience, the Boston Harbor Islands offer primitive tent camping accessed by ferry from Hingham. Boston Harbor Islands - Bumpkin Island and Boston Harbor Islands - Grape Island have historically hosted rustic camping, though camping in recent seasons has been concentrated on Peddocks Island while other islands remain closed for facility work.

Wompatuck State Park and Boston Harbor Islands campsites are reserved through the Massachusetts DCR system on ReserveAmerica, by web or by phone. DCR sites can be booked up to four months ahead of the arrival date. Wompatuck has a check-in window of 1:00 to 9:00 pm and check-out by 11:00 am, and cash is often required on site due to limited connectivity. Private parks such as Pinewood Lodge Campgrounds and Ellis Haven Family Campground book directly through their own websites or platforms like Campspot. Deposits are standard, with holiday weekends often carrying a multi-night minimum. Reserve summer weekends well ahead, and confirm rig length and hookup type before locking in a site.
