North Plymouth sits on the western shore of Cape Cod Bay in southeastern Massachusetts, with camping options concentrated in the pine and pond country south and west of the village. The area is anchored by Myles Standish State Forest, the largest publicly owned recreation area in southeastern Massachusetts, sprawling across the southern sections of Plymouth and Carver. Private, family-oriented parks fill in around the state forest and along the freshwater ponds that dot the region. RV travelers have a workable mix within a short drive of the historic waterfront. Ellis Haven Family Campground and Pinewood Lodge Campgrounds sit closest to town, while Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Cranberry Acres in Carver, MA and Indianhead Resort lean into resort-style amenities for families. For a more rustic, state-park experience, Fearing Pond 2 - Myles Standish State Forest puts campers on a wooded loop beside a kettle pond. Most sites in the area are set in pitch pine and oak forest on sandy soil, with lake or pond access nearby and easy road connections to Route 3, Cape Cod, and Boston.

State-forest sites are booked through the Massachusetts DCR reservation system, operated by ReserveAmerica. There is a non-refundable transaction charge for each reservation, and popular weekends at Fearing Pond 2 - Myles Standish State Forest fill months in advance. Booking as soon as the window opens is the safest approach for summer Fridays and Saturdays. Private parks including Ellis Haven Family Campground, Pinewood Lodge Campgrounds, Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Cranberry Acres in Carver, MA, and Indianhead Resort take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Holiday weekends, especially Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, sell out earliest. Before booking, confirm rig-length limits, hookup type, and whether the specific loop allows pets, since policies vary by park and by loop.
