Campgrounds and RV parks near Sagamore, MA

Sagamore sits at the mainland end of the Sagamore Bridge, where Route 3 crosses the Cape Cod Canal into Cape Cod. The location makes it a practical launch point for RV travelers heading onto the Cape, with the canal, Cape Cod Bay beaches, and historic Plymouth all within a short drive. Camping options split between two nearby state properties managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation and several private campgrounds. Scusset Beach State Reservation, on the canal's east entrance, offers 98 RV sites with water and 20/30/50-amp electric hookups plus five tent-only sites and a safari field for RV clubs. Area 2 - Shawme Crowell State Forest, about a mile and a half away in Sandwich, has over 285 wooded sites among pitch pine and scrub oak, plus six yurts. Private options fill in when state parks are booked. Indianhead Resort in Plymouth accommodates larger rigs in a forested setting, Sandy Pond Campground sits on Sandy Pond in Plymouth with full-hookup RV sites, and Bay View Campgrounds is a short drive west in Bourne.

Scusset Beach State Reservation and Shawme Crowell State Forest are both reserved through the Massachusetts DCR's ReserveAmerica portal. Walk-in registration is not permitted; advance reservations can be made online, and same-day bookings are accepted until 2 p.m. on the arrival date. Reservations can be made up to four months prior to arrival, and from April through Labor Day the daily inventory release opens at 8 a.m. Eastern. Private campgrounds have their own systems. Indianhead Resort, Sandy Pond Campground, and Bay View Campgrounds each take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites, and holiday weekends typically require multi-night minimums. Massachusetts prohibits transporting firewood into or out of any DCR campground; firewood must be purchased on site.
