Campgrounds and RV parks near Siasconset, MA

Siasconset sits on the eastern end of Nantucket Island, roughly seven miles from the main town. Camping is not legal on Nantucket itself. Town bylaws prohibit overnight stays in tents or vehicles on public or private property without landowner permission, and there are no public campgrounds or RV parks on the island. The only exception is Camp Richard, a private 100-acre camp open only to nationally chartered Scouting America groups traveling as part of an organized program. RV travelers planning a Siasconset trip base themselves on Cape Cod and cross to Nantucket by passenger ferry from Hyannis or Harwich Port. Drive time from most Cape Cod campgrounds to the Hyannis ferry terminal typically runs under 30 minutes. Close mainland options include Sun Retreats Cape Cod, Old Chatham Road RV Campground, Sweetwater Forest Camping Resort, Nickerson State Park in Brewster, and Shady Knoll Campground. These parks range from full-hookup private resorts to a large public state park set among kettle ponds and pine and oak forest.

For Nickerson State Park, reservations are handled through ReserveAmerica on behalf of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. The booking window opens four months ahead of arrival, and same-day advance reservations are accepted up until 2 p.m. on the arrival date. Walk-in registrations are not permitted, and out-of-state campers pay a per-night surcharge that funds park maintenance. Private parks such as Sun Retreats Cape Cod, Old Chatham Road RV Campground, Sweetwater Forest Camping Resort, and Shady Knoll Campground book directly through their own websites or phone lines. For peak summer weekends and holidays, reserve as early as possible and confirm rig length, hookup type, and turn radius before paying a deposit.
