Campgrounds and RV parks near West Falmouth, MA

The Shining Sea Bikeway runs from North Falmouth through West Falmouth to Woods Hole, giving campers a flat, paved route to beaches, harbors, and the Woods Hole Science Aquarium. Chapoquoit Beach and Old Silver Beach offer calm Buzzards Bay swimming that suits younger kids, while Nobska Lighthouse and Falmouth Heights provide Nantucket Sound views. Day trips are the main draw. Woods Hole ferries reach Martha's Vineyard in about 45 minutes, opening up cycling on the island, Oak Bluffs, and the Aquinnah Cliffs. Cape Cod National Seashore, the Cape Cod Canal bike path, and Heritage Museums and Gardens in Sandwich are all within an hour's drive of most area campgrounds.

Cape Cod campgrounds run a tight season. Most private parks near West Falmouth, including Sun Outdoors Cape Cod, Bay View Campground, and Dunroamin Cottages and Trailer Park, open in mid-to-late April or May and close by mid-October. Martha's Vineyard Family Campground operates from roughly early May through mid-October, with peak weekends selling out within days of the winter reservation release. July and August are the busiest months, with warm days, strong demand, and heavy ferry traffic through Woods Hole. June and September are the sweet spot for RV renters: ocean temperatures are usable, crowds ease after Labor Day, and site availability improves. Late-season travel brings tradeoffs. Fall foliage inland is pretty, but Atlantic hurricane and nor'easter activity peaks from August into October, occasionally forcing coastal advisories. Winter camping is not practical in the area; nearly all campgrounds are closed and reopen for spring.

Sites near West Falmouth tend to be wooded and close together rather than open and spacious. Interior roads at older Cape Cod parks can be narrow with tight turns, so larger Class A or long fifth-wheel rentals should confirm site length and access before booking. Typical hookups include 30 amp electric, water, and sewer or a dump station, with 50 amp available at some newer resort-style parks. Expect family-focused amenities: pools, playgrounds, camp stores, and organized weekend activities in summer. Cell coverage is generally good, mosquitoes and ticks are active from late spring through fall, and coastal fog is common in early summer mornings. Beach parking in Falmouth requires town stickers or paid daily lots in season.
