Camping near Mount Pleasant, Michigan
Mount Pleasant sits in central Michigan's Isabella County, roughly midway between Lansing and the northern lakes. The area is best known as the home of Central Michigan University and the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort, owned and operated by the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Nation. For RV travellers, that mix of college-town amenities, tribal entertainment complex, and surrounding farmland and small lakes makes it a practical stop for a long weekend or a base for exploring the middle of the Lower Peninsula.
Campgrounds near the city cover a range of styles. Soaring Eagle Hideaway RV Resort offers 67 sites with concrete pads, asphalt approaches, full hookups, and individual fire rings, situated next to a 42-acre lake with kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, and fishing. Mt Pleasant Resort - Outdoor Adventures, Saginaw Chippewa Campground, the Isabella County Fairgrounds, and the Weidman KOA Holiday round out the closest options.
Most sites are within a short drive of the casino, the waterpark, downtown restaurants, and CMU sports venues, so families can pair outdoor time with indoor attractions.
Things to do around Mount Pleasant
The Soaring Eagle complex anchors most trips. Free shuttle service runs to the Soaring Eagle Waterpark and Hotel, Waabooz Run Golf Course, the Green Suites, and Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort from Soaring Eagle Hideaway RV Resort, which simplifies visits for families staying with an RV.
On the water, kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boating on the resort's on-site lake are common activities, and fishing is welcome for anglers of all skill levels. Downtown Mount Pleasant has independent shops and restaurants, and Central Michigan University's campus hosts athletics, theatre, and museum visits. The Ziibiwing Center of Anishinabe Culture and Lifeways offers exhibits on regional Anishinabe history and is a common rainy-day stop.
Golfers have Pohlcat, Bucks Run, and Waabooz Run within short drives, and nearby county parks add hiking and picnic options.

Mount Pleasant has a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons, which shapes the camping calendar tightly. Most private RV parks in the area follow a spring-to-fall pattern, with typical opening in April and closing in October.
Summer is the peak season for camping and for casino and waterpark traffic. Weekends near Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day fill first, and the CMU academic calendar drives extra demand on move-in weekends and home football Saturdays. Peak season at Mt Pleasant Resort - Outdoor Adventures runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Spring and fall are quieter but require flexibility. Water is shut off at Mt Pleasant Resort - Outdoor Adventures during the fall and winter months, and similar shoulder-season limits apply elsewhere, so confirm hookup availability before booking outside the summer window. Snow and freezing temperatures shut most private parks down for the winter.
How to book campgrounds near Mount Pleasant
Reservation systems vary by campground. Soaring Eagle Hideaway RV Resort takes bookings directly through its own website and through Campspot. Mt Pleasant Resort - Outdoor Adventures operates on a membership model in addition to nightly stays, and non-members should contact the Outdoor Adventures reservations department directly.
For summer weekends, book eight to twelve weeks ahead, especially for full hookup sites and pull-throughs long enough for larger rigs. Soaring Eagle Hideaway accommodates big rigs and offers full hookups at every site. The Isabella County Fairgrounds sometimes limits general camping around scheduled fair and event dates, so check the county calendar before locking in travel dates. Weidman KOA Holiday and Saginaw Chippewa Campground take reservations through their own operator sites.
What to expect on arrival
Sites near Mount Pleasant lean toward developed, family-focused parks rather than rustic backcountry. Expect level pads, defined pull-through lanes, and full or partial hookups at most private campgrounds. Soaring Eagle Hideaway offers concrete pads with full water, sewer, and electric hookups, individual fire rings, a bathhouse, laundry, general store, dump station, and an on-site pool.
Mt Pleasant Resort - Outdoor Adventures adds group activities, a dump station, propane, firewood, a small grocery, RV supplies, a game room, hiking trails, an outdoor pool, hot tub, and mini golf. Cell service is generally reliable, highway noise from US-127 can carry to sites closer to the corridor, and mosquitoes are typical near the lakes in early summer, so pack repellent.
