Campgrounds and RV parks near Trufant, MI

Trufant is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Maple Valley Township in western Montcalm County, roughly 11 miles southeast of Howard City and 15 miles northeast of Cedar Springs. The surrounding countryside is a mix of small inland lakes, second-growth hardwood forest, and farm roads, which supports a cluster of family-run private campgrounds within a short drive of the village. RV renters typically base themselves at one of the nearby lake-focused parks. Lincoln Pines Campground, Three Seasons Campground, and Townline Lake Campground sit closest to Trufant itself, while Mecosta Pines Campground and Lakeview Family Campground extend the search area north and east into Mecosta and Montcalm counties. Most of these are private, seasonal operations rather than state parks. Grand Rapids is about an hour southwest, which makes Trufant a practical staging point for renters flying into Gerald R. Ford International Airport and picking up a rig before heading into central Michigan's lake country.

The campgrounds closest to Trufant are privately owned, so reservations go through each park directly by phone or their own website rather than through a central portal. Deposits and cancellation windows vary, and holiday weekends often require a two or three-night minimum. For renters who also want to include a Michigan state park in their itinerary, the state uses a single system. Michigan DNR campsite, lodging, and harbor reservations can be booked up to six months in advance through the MiDNR Reservations portal, while most state forest campgrounds operate on a first-come, first-served basis. A Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry into Michigan state parks. When booking any site with an RV rental, confirm the site's length, hookup type (electric-only, water and electric, or full hookup), and whether it is back-in or pull-through so the rig fits without issues on arrival.
