Camping near Ripley, Mississippi
Ripley sits in Tippah County in the hill country of north Mississippi, roughly an hour southeast of Memphis and less than an hour north of Tupelo. The town is best known for its First Monday Trade Days flea market, and it works well as a low-traffic base for RV trips that combine hill-country lakes, the Natchez Trace Parkway, and Civil War sites around Corinth and Shiloh.
Campground options close to town lean small and rural. Ashland RV Connections and Cherokee Landing Campground offer smaller-scale options west and north of Ripley, and Corinth RV Park serves travelers heading toward Shiloh and the Tennessee state line.
For larger rigs or families wanting a full state-park experience, Deer Run and Eagle Ridge at Trace State Park sit on Trace Lake between Tupelo and Pontotoc, with 76 RV sites offering full hookups including electric, water, and sewer. Campgrounds at Barnes Crossing near Tupelo rounds out the nearby choices, with easy access to shopping, dining, and I-22.
Things to do around Ripley
Fishing and paddling anchor most trips in this area. Trace Lake at Trace State Park draws anglers for bass and crappie, and the park offers fishing, water sports, wooded nature trails, and two 18-hole disc golf courses, including the Old Warrior Run long-arm course and the professional Trace Gold course.
History travel is easy from Ripley. The Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center and Shiloh National Military Park sit within about an hour, and the Natchez Trace Parkway crosses the region south of town with quiet overlooks and bike-friendly stretches.
For rainy-day or resupply stops, Tupelo adds the Elvis Presley Birthplace and full-service shopping and dining near Barnes Crossing on the north side of town.

North Mississippi has a humid subtropical climate. There is no dry season, and hot, humid summers give way to mild to cool winters, with temperatures ranging from the low 30s Fahrenheit on winter nights to the high 80s at the height of summer. Spring and fall are the most comfortable stretches for RV travel.
Spring brings frequent rain and the occasional severe-weather day, but daytime highs in the 60s and 70s make it a strong season for state-park camping. Summer is hot and sticky, with afternoon thunderstorms common; shaded sites at Trace State Park and lakefront pads help take the edge off the heat and humidity.
Fall is the sweet spot for hill-country travel: cooler nights, lower humidity, and reliable dry stretches through October. Winter camping is possible year-round at Trace, though freezes are frequent enough that RVers should manage water lines carefully on cold nights.
How to book near Ripley
State park sites at Trace fill early for weekends and holidays. Reservations at Deer Run and Eagle Ridge can be made up to 13 months in advance through the MDWFP reservation portal at mdwfp.com, or by calling the park office directly. Because the campground is popular in shoulder season, planning well ahead is encouraged.
Private parks near Ripley run differently. Ashland RV Connections, Cherokee Landing Campground, Corinth RV Park, and Campgrounds at Barnes Crossing typically take direct bookings by phone or through their own websites, and calling ahead is the safest approach for shorter stays.
For First Monday Trade Days weekends in Ripley, book any nearby site several weeks out; local demand spikes even in the off-season.
What to expect on site
Sites in this region skew toward back-in and pull-through pads with full hookups at the state park and 30-amp or 30/50-amp service at private parks. At Trace State Park, 18 of the 25 sites at Deer Run and 15 of the 27 sites at Eagle Ridge are lakefront, each with a fire pit, grill, and picnic table. Three bathhouses provide hot showers, a coin-operated laundromat is available in the Eagle Ridge loop, and a central dump station serves the campground.
Cell coverage is generally usable across the major carriers along US-72 and MS-15 but can drop inside wooded loops. Grocery runs are easiest in Ripley, Corinth, or the Barnes Crossing area north of Tupelo. Pets are welcome at most sites on leash but are not allowed inside cabins or park buildings.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Ripley, MS?
RV rental in Ripley is affordable compared to big-city pricing. Motorhomes near Ripley average around $200 a night, while towable trailers run closer to $120 a night, and many owners offer 10 to 20 percent discounts on weekly and monthly bookings. Tip: time your trip around First Monday Trade Days weekend (the Saturday and Sunday before the first Monday of each month) so your nightly RV cost doubles as flea market lodging steps from The Square.

The protection plan covers most damage to the RV and gives you real financial peace of mind. During checkout you choose the protection level that fits your trip; this is set by RVezy, not the host. Booking your Ripley RV trip is low risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and it includes a grace period right after you book so you have time to confirm dates and plans without pressure. Specific terms depend on how far out your trip is and circumstances like severe weather, which matters in north Mississippi where spring storms can roll through Tippah County quickly. If anything changes, contact RVezy support directly and they will walk you through your options. Lock in your dates early, especially around First Monday weekends when local RVs book up fastest.

Absolutely, plenty of pet-friendly RV rental Ripley options are just a filter click away. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see only listings that welcome dogs, and message the host to confirm size, breed, and any pet fee. Tippah County Lake welcomes leashed pets, and the wide-open grounds around the lake are perfect for a morning walk. For longer hikes, drive about 35 minutes northwest to Holly Springs National Forest, where leashed dogs are welcome on the trails. Pack a collapsible water bowl: Mississippi summers get humid, and your pup will thank you on every stop.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Ripley%2C%20Mississippi&Filters=PetsAllowedCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Ripley?
Yes, RV delivery Ripley hosts make first-time camping incredibly easy. Many local owners will drive the RV to Tippah County Lake Campground, your driveway, a family member's property, or a nearby campsite, level it, hook up water and 30-amp power, and walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees are set by the host and depend on distance and RV size, so message a few hosts on the listing page to compare. This is especially popular for travel trailers (since you skip the towing learning curve) and for families flying into Memphis International Airport before driving the roughly 75 miles south to Ripley.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Ripley%2C%20MississippiHow far can I drive on a Ripley RV trip and are unlimited miles available?
You've got serious range from Ripley. Each host sets their own mileage policy, and you'll see options ranging from a few hundred included miles per night up to RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for bigger loops. From Ripley you can hit Tupelo (Elvis's birthplace) in about 45 miles, Memphis and Graceland in around 75 miles, Oxford and Rowan Oak (William Faulkner's home) in 55 miles, Tishomingo State Park in 70 miles, and Tupelo's Natchez Trace Parkway access in under an hour. Filter for unlimited mileage on RVezy if you're planning a multi-stop RV road trip from Ripley, and message hosts to confirm overage rates before booking.

mdwfp.com/parks-destinations/rv-campingWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Ripley?
Spring and fall are the sweet spots for an RV trip from Ripley. April and May bring highs in the 70s and 80s with blooming dogwoods, while September and October cool back down to comfortable 70s with low humidity, perfect for sitting outside at Tippah County Lake. Summers (June through August) push into the low 90s with significant humidity, so target shaded sites and full-hookup campgrounds for air conditioning. Winters are mild with daytime highs in the 50s and overnight lows in the 30s, making December and January a quiet, budget-friendly time to rent. Bonus: any First Monday weekend (year-round) is worth planning around.
weather.gov/meg/I have never rented an RV before. How does the pickup process work in Ripley?
First time renting an RV? You are in great hands in Ripley. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, water tanks, propane, slide-outs, awning, and dashboard before you drive away (most walkthroughs take 30 to 60 minutes). You can also message your host through the listing page before booking to ask anything: parking the rig at Tippah County Lake, how to use the leveling jacks, or what to do if it rains. Many Ripley hosts offer delivery and setup as a stress-free upgrade, especially handy if you are nervous about backing a trailer down a county road.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002342853-For-RentersWhat happens if I break down on my RV trip near Ripley?
You are covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on Highway 15, a dead battery at Tippah County Lake, or a lockout in downtown Ripley is one phone call away from help. The roadside team handles tows, jump-starts, tire service, and lockouts. Save the RVezy support number in your phone before you leave the driveway, keep your host's number handy too (they often know the closest service shop in Tippah County), and you are set for a smooth trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Ripley rental on a multi-state RV road trip?
Yes, interstate travel is one of the best parts of a Ripley RV trip. You are well positioned: Memphis, Tennessee is about 75 miles north (around 90 minutes), Tupelo is about 50 miles south, Birmingham, Alabama is roughly 175 miles southeast, and Nashville is around 230 miles northeast. Most hosts allow travel throughout the continental United States, though some restrict mileage or specific states, so confirm in the listing or message the host before booking. Travel into Canada may be allowed with the host's approval, but travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals due to insurance limitations. A popular route is Ripley to Graceland to the Natchez Trace Parkway.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Ripley RV trip?
Fuel in north Mississippi is some of the cheapest in the country, which keeps your Ripley RV trip budget friendly. Expect a Class C motorhome to get 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG), a Class B campervan around 15 to 20 MPG, and a truck towing a travel trailer roughly 10 to 12 MPG. With Tippah County gas typically running well below the national average, a 200-mile loop to Memphis, Oxford, and back usually costs $50 to $80 in fuel for a midsize motorhome. Fill up in Ripley or New Albany before heading into the Holly Springs National Forest, where stations are sparse.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Ripley?
Booking early pays off. Mississippi state parks (including Tishomingo and Wall Doxey, both within an hour of Ripley) accept reservations up to 13 months in advance through the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks reservation system, and summer weekends fill up months ahead. Tippah County Lake operates on a more relaxed first-come, first-served and honor-pay system with 22 sites, so arriving by Thursday afternoon for a weekend stay is smart. For First Monday Trade Days weekends (always the Saturday and Sunday before the first Monday), book your Ripley RV rental and campsite at least 4 to 6 weeks out, the flea market draws crowds from across the South.
mdwfp.com/parks-destinations/rv-campingWhat are local driving conditions like around Ripley?
Driving an RV around Ripley is refreshingly low-stress. You're in the southern Appalachian foothills, so expect rolling hills, gentle curves, and two-lane state highways like Highway 15 and Highway 4. Traffic is light outside of First Monday weekends, when downtown Ripley's Square gets busy with flea market visitors (plan to arrive early or park on the outskirts with a larger rig). Watch for occasional deer at dawn and dusk on rural roads near Tippah County Lake, and be aware that summer thunderstorms can drop heavy rain quickly. There are no low clearances or mountain passes to worry about, making this a great region for first-time RV drivers.
mdot.ms.gov/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Ripley?
Local campgrounds keep things simple and reliable. Tippah County Lake offers 30-amp electric and water hookups at all 22 sites, plus an on-site dump station, picnic tables, grills, restrooms, and hot showers. Wall Doxey State Park (about 35 miles west) and Tishomingo State Park (70 miles east) offer full hookups including sewer, along with Wi-Fi and laundry through the MDWFP system. For freshwater fill-ups and dumping between stops, most Mississippi state parks let day-pay travelers use their dump stations for a small fee. Pro tip: pack a 25-foot drinking water hose and a 30-to-50-amp adapter, since site configurations vary across Tippah County.
mdwfp.com/parks-destinations/rv-campingWhat's inside a typical RV rental in Ripley?
Most Ripley RV rentals come fully stocked for a comfortable trip. Expect a queen or king bed in the main sleeping area, bunk or convertible dinette beds for kids, a kitchen with a propane stove, microwave, fridge, and sink, plus a wet or dry bathroom with toilet and shower. Air conditioning is standard (essential for Mississippi summers), and many listings include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and onboard generator for off-grid stops. Seatbelts are provided for the number of travelers each RV sleeps. For a motorhome rental Ripley families love, filter by sleeps count and check the photos, then message the host to confirm specifics like Wi-Fi hotspots or bike racks.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Ripley%2C%20MississippiWhat add-ons and options can I get with my Ripley RV rental?
Ripley hosts offer plenty of useful add-ons to customize your trip. Common extras include camp chairs and tables, full kitchen kits, bedding and linens, generators, propane refills, bike racks, fishing gear, and even pre-stocked pantries (a real time-saver if you are flying into Memphis). Pickup is typically at the host's home in or near Ripley, with delivery available to Tippah County Lake, area rentals, or your driveway for an added fee. Mileage policies vary by listing, from set per-night limits to unlimited mileage options for longer loops. Check the listing's Add-Ons section and message your host before booking to lock in exactly what you need.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Ripley%2C%20MississippiHow do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and secure. You pay through RVezy at the time of booking using a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, which keeps everything documented and protected. A refundable security deposit is held on your card before pickup (the amount is shown on each listing) and released after your trip as long as the RV is returned in the same condition, with the same fuel and waste tank levels noted on your departure checklist. To avoid surprises, take photos and a quick walkaround video at pickup and dropoff, dump tanks at Tippah County Lake's on-site dump station before returning, and refill propane and fuel as agreed with your host.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I find a campervan rental in Ripley for a quick weekend trip?
Yes, campervan rental Ripley options (Class B motorhomes built on van chassis) are perfect for a quick getaway. They drive like an oversized SUV, fit in standard parking spots on The Square in downtown Ripley, and average 15 to 20 MPG, making them the most fuel-efficient motorhome class for short trips. A classic weekend itinerary: pick up Friday afternoon, camp Friday night at Tippah County Lake (about 5 minutes from town), spend Saturday at First Monday Trade Days and lunch at a Ripley soda fountain, then take a Sunday loop to Tupelo's Elvis Presley Birthplace before returning. Use the Class B filter on RVezy to see local options instantly.
