Campgrounds near Crestwood, Missouri
Crestwood is an inner-ring suburb of St. Louis in south St. Louis County, off Interstate 44 and Route 366 (Watson Road). It sits within easy reach of the Gateway Arch, Forest Park, and the Meramec River corridor, which shapes most of the RV camping options in the area. There are no campgrounds inside Crestwood itself, so RV renters generally base out of parks on the region's outer edges and drive in.
The closest full-service RV options cluster on the Illinois side of the Mississippi, a short freeway hop from Crestwood. Belleville Mobile Home and RV Estates and Covered Bridge RV Park and Storage sit east of the river in metro Belleville, while Cahokia RV Parque and DraftKings at Casino Queen RV Park put travelers within minutes of downtown St. Louis attractions.
West of the city, Sundermeier RV Park in St. Charles offers a longer-stay park close to the Katy Trail and the historic riverfront. Together these five parks cover most of the practical staging points for a Crestwood-based trip.
Things to do near Crestwood
Families base near Crestwood to reach the St. Louis attractions on the Missouri side of the river: Gateway Arch National Park, the free St. Louis Zoo in Forest Park, the Saint Louis Science Center, and the City Museum. Grant's Farm and the Anheuser-Busch brewery tour are both a short drive from Crestwood.
Outdoor options are close as well. The Meramec River, Big River, and Huzzah River south of the city offer canoeing, fishing, and float trips, and Onondaga Cave State Park along the Meramec is known for its cave tours. Route 66 State Park sits just west along I-44, and the Katy Trail crosses the Missouri River near Sundermeier RV Park for flat, family-friendly cycling.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel around Crestwood. April through early June brings green landscapes and mild days, but it is also the region's wettest and most unstable stretch. The spring months of March through May are normally the wettest around St. Louis, with severe thunderstorms and occasional tornadoes. Renters should watch forecasts and know where their park's storm shelter is.
Summer is hot and humid. From June through August, afternoon thunderstorms can break out and long muggy periods extend into early September. Temperatures of 90 degrees or higher occur on roughly 35 to 40 days per year in the St. Louis area. Sites at full-hookup parks with pools and shade fill early on holiday weekends.
Fall is the quietest season with drier air and cooler nights. Mid-September through mid-October is a strong choice, being drier with fewer temperature swings than spring. Winter camping is possible at parks that stay open year-round, but expect freezing nights and occasional snow, with the region averaging a little over 18 inches of snow per season.

Renting from Donna was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Her communication was prompt, clear, and welcoming, making pickup and drop-off completely hassle-free. The camper was exceptionally clean, well maintained, and stocked with everything we needed, and the beds were remarkably comfortable for a great night’s sleep after a long day outside. Donna is a top-tier host, and I would absolutely rent from her again in a heartbeat!

We had a great time renting this camper! Ray was awesome to work with. He went over everything with us when we picked it up and was always quick to respond if we had any questions. The camper was really clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. It was great to get away with the family annd enjoy some time together without having to worry about anything. We had an awesome weekend, made some great memories, and will definitely be renting from Ray again! Do yourself a favor and take your family camping for a few days too. Unplug, enjoy the time together, and make some memories. You won’t regret it!

How to book
Private RV parks around Crestwood, including Sundermeier RV Park, Cahokia RV Parque, Covered Bridge RV Park and Storage, DraftKings at Casino Queen RV Park, and Belleville Mobile Home and RV Estates, are booked directly through each park's website or by phone. Summer weekends, Cardinals home stands, and major events at the Enterprise Center or the Dome book out first, so lock in dates several weeks ahead.
For state park campgrounds in the wider region, Missouri uses a single reservation system. Missouri State Parks allow camping reservations up to 12 months prior to arrival, and same-day reservations are accepted up until 7 p.m. CST the day of arrival at icampmo.com or by phone at 877-422-6766. Any campsites that are not reserved remain available by walk-up registration.
What to expect on the ground
Most parks in the Crestwood orbit are practical staging grounds rather than destination resorts. Expect paved or gravel pads, 30 and 50 amp electric, water, sewer, and Wi-Fi of variable quality. Pull-through sites exist but are limited on busy weekends, so reserve early if towing a longer trailer.
Traffic and routing matter here. Four interstates meet in St. Louis: 44, 64, 55, and 70, providing RV access from all directions. Renters heading downtown from Illinois-side parks should plan for bridge congestion at rush hour, and drivers coming from Sundermeier RV Park in St. Charles typically take I-70 or I-64 into the city.
Mosquitoes are active from late spring through early fall along the river corridors, and severe weather sirens are tested regularly. Bring bug spray, a weather radio, and layers for cool evenings even in summer.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Crestwood, MO
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Crestwood, MO?
RV rental in Crestwood is often more affordable than a St. Louis hotel stay, especially when you split the cost with family or friends. Motorhomes near Crestwood typically average around $200 per night, while towable travel trailers and pop-ups run closer to $120 per night. Many hosts offer 10 to 20 percent discounts on weekly and monthly bookings, which is great for longer Ozark or Lake of the Ozarks getaways. For a cheap RV rental Crestwood travelers love, filter by towables and book mid-week stays in May or September when demand cools off. Pro tip: bundling delivery into your booking often saves more than driving the rig yourself once you factor in fuel.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Crestwood,%20MissouriDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Crestwood?
Good news: your regular Missouri Class F driver's license (or the equivalent from your home state) is all you need to rent an RV in Crestwood. Missouri does not require a commercial driver license (CDL) for recreational vehicles used for personal, non-commercial purposes, so you can drive a Class A motorhome, Class C, or tow a fifth wheel without any special endorsement. To book through RVezy you must be at least 25 years old, and ID confirmation happens right in the platform during checkout. That's it, no road test, no upgrade, no DMV visit. Most first-time renters in the St. Louis area are surprised by how quickly the booking process moves once their ID is verified.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection comes with my Crestwood RV rental?
Every RV rental in Crestwood booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you're covered from the moment you pull out of the driveway. The protection plan covers most damages to the vehicle during your trip, which takes a huge weight off first-time renters heading into Mark Twain National Forest or across the Mississippi into Illinois. You choose your coverage level during the booking process (not the host), so you can pick the tier that matches your comfort and your itinerary. Pair that coverage with RVezy's customer support team and you have a safety net for the whole journey.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Crestwood RV trip?
Life happens, and RVezy makes it easy to book with confidence. RVezy (not the host) sets the cancellation policy for every booking, so you'll see consistent, fair terms whether you're renting a campervan for a weekend at Babler State Park or a Class A for a Branson road trip. There's a money-back grace period right after booking, plus accommodations for cancellations made well in advance. Full details live on the RVezy Help Center since the refund amount depends on timing. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best rigs around Crestwood, knowing the cancellation policy has your back if plans shift.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Crestwood?
Absolutely, bringing the dog is one of the best parts of RV life. Plenty of hosts on RVezy offer pet-friendly RV rental Crestwood options, and you can spot them instantly by flipping on the Pet-Friendly filter when you search. Once you're on the road, Missouri State Parks welcome leashed pets at all campgrounds, including nearby Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park and Route 66 State Park, which is just 10 minutes from Crestwood. Grant's Trail and the off-leash area at Suson Park are also great local stops to stretch four legs before pickup. Tip: message the host beforehand to confirm any cleaning fees and ask about their favorite dog-friendly trails.
mostateparks.com/page/55061/pets-state-parksCan the RV be delivered to my campsite or home in Crestwood?
Yes, RV delivery Crestwood is one of the most popular options on the platform, especially for first-timers. Many hosts will drive the RV to your driveway in Crestwood, set it up at a nearby campground like St. Louis West/Historic Route 66 KOA in Eureka or Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park in Eureka, and walk you through every system before they leave. That means no learning to back up a 30-foot trailer on day one, and no parking a Class A in your subdivision. Delivery fees are set by each host based on distance and RV type. Use the Delivery filter when browsing, and message a few hosts to compare quotes before booking.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Crestwood,%20MissouriHow far can I drive on a Crestwood RV trip?

Hosts set their own mileage policies, and many offer generous daily allowances or even RV rental with unlimited mileage on weekly bookings. From Crestwood, Lake of the Ozarks is about 2.5 hours west, Branson sits around 4.5 hours southwest, Mark Twain National Forest is 90 minutes south, Memphis is roughly 4.5 hours down I-55, and Chicago is about 5 hours northeast. modot.org/Where are the best campgrounds near Crestwood, MO?
Crestwood sits in a sweet spot for RV camping, with great campgrounds within an hour in every direction. Top picks include St. Louis West/Historic Route 66 KOA Holiday in Eureka (full hookups, pool, about 20 minutes away), Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park in Eureka (family-focused, near Six Flags St. Louis), Pin Oak Creek RV Park in Villa Ridge (about 45 minutes west, peaceful and wooded), Cahokia RV Parque across the river in Illinois (closest big-rig park to downtown St. Louis), and Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park (electric sites in a gorgeous Ozark foothills setting). Reserve Missouri State Park sites at icampmo1.usedirect.com up to 12 months in advance for peak weekends.
mostateparks.com/park/dr-edmund-babler-memorial-state-parkWhen is the best time of year to rent an RV in Crestwood?
Crestwood's sweet spot for RV camping runs from mid-April through mid-June, then again from September through late October, when daytime highs land in the comfortable 65 to 80 degree Fahrenheit range. July and August are gorgeous but humid, with highs near 89 degrees and occasional 100-degree days, so look for rigs with strong air conditioning. Spring brings vibrant green Ozark scenery (and the occasional thunderstorm, since you're east of Tornado Alley), while October paints the Mark Twain National Forest in fiery reds and golds. Winter rentals are quieter and cheaper, just confirm the RV has a furnace and heated tanks if overnight lows dip into the 20s.
weather.gov/lsx/climateI have never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?
Yes, and you're in great company, most renters around Crestwood are first-timers too. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering the generator, slides, leveling, water systems, and dump procedure, so you're never left guessing. For your first time renting an RV, consider a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer, both drive much like a large truck and fit easily on I-270 and I-44. If you'd rather skip the driving entirely, book a host who offers delivery and setup at a campground like Route 66 State Park. Pro tip: practice a few right turns in a wide parking lot like Crestwood Plaza before hitting the highway.
modot.org/safetyWhat happens if I break down during my Crestwood RV trip?
You're never stranded, every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection package. Whether you hit a flat on I-44 heading to Meramec Caverns or have a battery issue at a campsite in Mark Twain National Forest, one phone call gets help dispatched. Your host is also just a message away through the RVezy app for quick questions like restarting the generator or troubleshooting the awning. The RVezy customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip too. Save the roadside number in your phone before you leave Crestwood so you can reach help with one tap if you need it.
modot.org/motorist-assistWhat are popular RV road trips from Crestwood?
Crestwood is a launchpad for some of the Midwest's best RV adventures. A popular RV road trip from Crestwood is the Historic Route 66 run west through Eureka, Stanton, and Cuba, hitting Meramec Caverns and the Route 66 State Park along the way (about 60 miles of pure Americana). Lake of the Ozarks is 2.5 hours west for boating and lakeside camping at Lake of the Ozarks State Park. Branson sits 4.5 hours southwest, Memphis is 4.5 hours south on I-55, and Hannibal (Mark Twain's hometown) is just under 2 hours north on the Great River Road. Travel into Mexico isn't allowed on RVezy rentals, but cross-state trips throughout the US are typically fine, just confirm with your host.
visitmo.com/things-to-do/road-tripsHow much should I budget for fuel on a Missouri RV trip?
Missouri has some of the most affordable gas in the country, which is great news for your RV budget. Expect gas prices in the St. Louis metro to typically run 20 to 40 cents below the national average. Class C motorhomes around Crestwood average 8 to 12 miles per gallon (mpg), Class A rigs get 6 to 10 mpg, and campervans (Class B) often hit 15 to 20 mpg. For a weekend RV camping Crestwood loop to Lake of the Ozarks and back (about 300 miles round trip) in a Class C, budget roughly $90 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up at Costco in Manchester or QuikTrip near I-270 before leaving town for the cheapest pumps in the area.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Crestwood?
Book Missouri State Park sites as early as possible: the reservation window opens exactly 12 months before your arrival date through the state's online system. Holiday weekends like Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day at popular parks such as Babler, Meramec, and Lake of the Ozarks State Parks fill the moment the window opens. For private parks like St. Louis West KOA or Yogi Bear's Jellystone in Eureka, aim to book 3 to 6 months ahead for summer weekends. Weeknight trips are much more flexible, you can usually grab a site a week or two out. Same-day reservations are accepted online or by phone through Missouri State Parks reservations.
mostateparks.com/page/54447/camping-reservationsWhat is driving like in and around Crestwood?
Crestwood is one of the easier St. Louis suburbs for RV driving, with wide arterials like Watson Road (old Route 66) and quick access to I-270 and I-44. The metro area has a few things to know: avoid the lower deck of the Poplar Street Bridge in downtown St. Louis with tall rigs, watch for 11 to 13 foot height clearances on some older underpasses on Big Bend and Manchester, and skip narrow Central West End streets entirely. Summer afternoon thunderstorms can pop up fast (Missouri sits east of Tornado Alley), so check the radar before long drives. Within 90 minutes you're in the rolling Ozark foothills, where two-lane highways are scenic but curvy, take it slow and you'll love every mile.
traveler.modot.org/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Crestwood?
Campgrounds around Crestwood are well-equipped for any RV. Most private parks like St. Louis West KOA and Pin Oak Creek RV Park offer 30 and 50 amp electric, full water and sewer hookups, Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, and dump stations. Missouri State Parks like Babler and Meramec offer basic, electric, and electric/water/sewer sites, with dump stations open April 1 through October 31. Need to dump or fill water in a pinch? Cahokia RV Parque (15 minutes east) and most KOAs allow non-guests to use their dump stations for a small fee. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot freshwater hose and a 30-to-50 amp adapter, you'll thank yourself at older sites where hookups aren't always close.
mostateparks.com/activity/campingWhat will my Crestwood RV rental come equipped with?
Expect a fully-loaded home on wheels. Most motorhome rental Crestwood listings come with a queen or king bed, convertible dinette or sofa beds, a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a full bathroom with shower and toilet, roof air conditioning, a furnace, and seatbelts for every traveler. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and onboard generator for boondocking, while campervans (Class B) trade some space for better fuel economy and easier parking. Wi-Fi varies, some hosts include a hotspot, others don't, so check the listing or ask before booking. Hosts often provide kitchen kits, linens, and outdoor chairs for a small add-on fee, which is perfect when you're flying into Lambert and don't want to pack bedding.
flystl.com/What add-ons and options can I get with my Crestwood RV rental?
Hosts in Crestwood offer a wide range of add-ons to make your trip easier. Common options include linens and bedding kits, kitchen and cookware packages, bike racks, generators for boondocking, portable grills, outdoor mats, and even paddleboards or kayaks for Lake of the Ozarks trips. Pickup and dropoff usually happen at the host's home, but many offer delivery to your driveway or directly to campgrounds like Babler State Park. Mileage policies vary, daily allowances of 100 to 150 miles are common, with unlimited mileage often available on weekly bookings. Use Instant Book to lock in popular rigs quickly, and message hosts ahead of time to ask about bundled add-on discounts.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Crestwood,%20MissouriHow do payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure: when you book an RV rental in Crestwood through RVezy, your credit or debit card is charged through the platform, never directly to the host. A refundable security deposit is held by RVezy (not the host) before your trip and released back to you after the rig is returned in good condition. Hold amounts vary by RV type and host. To avoid any deposit issues, do the pre-trip walkthrough together with your host, take date-stamped photos and a quick video at pickup and return, and follow the mileage and cleanliness guidelines on the listing. Easy, transparent, and worry-free.
