Campgrounds and RV parks near Dellwood, MO

Downtown St. Louis is the main draw, with the Gateway Arch, Busch Stadium, City Museum, and the free-admission Saint Louis Zoo and Saint Louis Art Museum inside Forest Park. Guests staying at Sundermeier RV Park can reach historic Main Street in St. Charles on foot or by bike from nearby trailheads. Outdoor options are strong for a metro area. The Katy Trail State Park runs west from St. Charles for hundreds of miles along the Missouri River, and Creve Coeur Lake and Cuivre River State Park offer swimming, paddling, and hiking within an hour of Dellwood. On the Illinois side, guests at Cahokia RV Parque or DraftKings at Casino Queen RV Park are close to Cahokia Mounds, a UNESCO World Heritage Site preserving the largest pre-Columbian earthworks north of Mexico.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons for RV travel in the St. Louis area. Mid-April through mid-May and mid-September through October bring mild days, cooler nights, and lower humidity, though spring is the wettest part of the year and thunderstorms are common. Tornado watches are most frequent from March through June. Summer is hot and humid, with July daytime highs averaging near 90 F and heat indexes often higher. Air-conditioning and 50-amp service become priorities, and city attractions such as Cardinals home games, Forest Park festivals, and Fair Saint Louis draw peak crowds. Book urban RV parks several weeks ahead for weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Winter is cold, with periods of snow, freezing rain, and hard freezes. Many state park showerhouses close from November through March, and only frost-free spigots remain active at some campgrounds. Private RV parks in the metro generally stay open year-round with heated facilities.

Metro-area RV parks near Dellwood are generally paved or gravel with full hookups, 30- and 50-amp service, Wi-Fi, and easy interstate access. Sites tend to be closer together than at destination resorts, and rig-length limits vary by park, so confirm slide-out clearance and length when booking a large Class A or fifth wheel. At Missouri state parks, camping is limited to any 15 days within a 30-consecutive-day period at one park, and pets must be kept on leashes no longer than 10 feet. Off-season stays from November through March mean reduced services, with showerhouses closed and potable water available only at frost-free spigots. Summer thunderstorms move through quickly but can produce heavy rain and occasional hail. Low-lying sites near the Mississippi and Missouri rivers can flood in spring, so check current conditions before travel.
