Campgrounds near Richmond Heights, Missouri
Richmond Heights is an inner-ring suburb of St. Louis in St. Louis County, Missouri, sitting roughly seven miles west of downtown and the Gateway Arch. Because it is a dense residential and retail corridor with no water frontage, RV travelers do not camp inside city limits. Instead, most base out of full-hookup parks across the Mississippi on the Illinois side or at state park campgrounds within a short drive west and south.
The closest RV options include Cahokia RV Parque, located in Cahokia, Illinois, just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, and DraftKings at Casino Queen RV Park in East St. Louis, both with quick highway or Metro access to Busch Stadium, Forest Park, and the Arch. Belleville Mobile Home and RV Estates, Covered Bridge RV Park and Storage, and Safari RV Park fill out the metro-area choices for longer stays or quieter settings.
For a more traditional camping trip, Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park sits about 25 miles west near Wildwood and offers basic, electric, and sewer/electric/water sites under a mature forest canopy, managed by Missouri State Parks.
Things to do near Richmond Heights
Richmond Heights borders Forest Park, home to the St. Louis Zoo, the Saint Louis Art Museum, and the Missouri History Museum, all free to enter. The Boulevard shopping district and Saint Louis Galleria sit inside the city, and downtown attractions including the Gateway Arch and Busch Stadium are a short drive or MetroLink ride east.
Guests staying at Cahokia RV Parque can use shuttle services to popular St. Louis attractions, including the Gateway Arch, Busch Stadium, and the St. Louis Zoo. DraftKings at Casino Queen RV Park is within walking distance of the Saint Louis Metro, letting guests reach downtown without moving the rig. Day trips west lead to Babler State Park for hiking, biking, and horseback trails, while trips east cross into Illinois for Cahokia Mounds and the Great River Road.

The area has a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons. Summers are hot and muggy, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms, and the city normally has 19 days a year when it never warms up to above freezing in winter. January sits close to freezing on average.
Spring is the rainiest season due to clashes between air masses and afternoon thunderstorms, which continue throughout the summer, although gradually less frequently, and most precipitation falls in May, with an average of 134 mm. St. Louis is located east of the heart of Tornado Alley, and is one of the metropolitan areas most affected by this phenomenon; tornadoes are more likely in spring, but sometimes can also occur in autumn, so RV travelers should monitor watches and warnings.
Campground seasons vary. Cahokia RV Parque and DraftKings at Casino Queen RV Park operate year-round. Missouri state park campgrounds such as Babler take reservations year-round, but full water service and shower houses generally run in the warmer months, with frost-free spigots available during the November through March off-season.

We had a great time renting this camper! Ray was awesome to work with. He went over everything with us when we picked it up and was always quick to respond if we had any questions. The camper was really clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. It was great to get away with the family annd enjoy some time together without having to worry about anything. We had an awesome weekend, made some great memories, and will definitely be renting from Ray again! Do yourself a favor and take your family camping for a few days too. Unplug, enjoy the time together, and make some memories. You won’t regret it!

How to book campgrounds near Richmond Heights
Private parks in the metro use their own reservation systems. Cahokia RV Parque takes bookings through its website with daily, weekly, and monthly stays. DraftKings at Casino Queen RV Park books online through Camplife, offers all pull-through sites with full hook-ups including water, electric, and sewer, and requires cancellations three days prior to arrival. Belleville Mobile Home and RV Estates, Covered Bridge RV Park and Storage, and Safari RV Park take reservations directly with the operator.
For state park camping at Babler, reservations go through icampmo.com or by calling 877-ICampMO (877-422-6766). Missouri State Parks campsites can be reserved up to 12 months in advance, expanded from the previous six-month window. For Cardinals homestands, concerts, and holiday weekends, book Illinois-side RV parks and Babler electric sites well ahead.
What to expect on the ground
Metro-side RV parks are urban. You can hear the train at the Casino Queen RV park because of the nearby rail corridor, and sites are close together on gravel or paved pads. It compensates with all pull-through sites, full hook-ups, access to the hotel gym and pool, and walking-distance access to the Saint Louis Metro. Cahokia RV Parque accommodates a wide range of rigs, including big rigs, with pull-through sites and both 30-amp and 50-amp hookups, plus full water, sewer, and dump station services; on-site amenities include showers, restrooms, laundry, Wi-Fi, a playground, and a pool.
Babler State Park is the opposite: wooded and quieter, with paved pads, fire rings, and picnic tables, but tighter turns and low tree cover on some loops. Big-rig travelers should confirm site length and amperage at booking. Expect ticks and raccoons in wooded loops and bring rain gear from March through June.
