Camping near Saint Clair, Missouri
Saint Clair sits along Interstate 44 in Franklin County, about an hour southwest of St. Louis and within easy reach of the Meramec River corridor. The area works well as a base for RV travelers because it combines interstate access with quick drives to caves, float streams, and state park land.
Most campgrounds in the area cluster along I-44 between Villa Ridge, Stanton, and Sullivan. Options include Pin Oak RV Resort, a full-hookup park on Historic Route 66 in Villa Ridge with a private fishing lake, swimming pool, mini-golf, and cabins. Closer to the caverns, Meramec Campground offers full hookups with WiFi and showers, and Meramec Caverns Natural Campground provides riverfront sites next to the cave tours. Forty Acre Club Nudist Resort and RV Self Park round out the local mix.
Meramec State Park, located near Sullivan about fifteen minutes southwest of town, anchors the public land in the region with basic, electric, electric/water and sewer/electric/water campsites, as well as group tent areas.
Things to do around Saint Clair
The Meramec River is the main draw. Canoeing, kayaking, and rafting are popular, and outfitters at Meramec State Park and Meramec Caverns rent canoes and rafts and run shuttles for float trips. Anglers target black bass and catfish, and swim access is available from park beaches and campground frontage.
Cave tours are the other headline activity. Meramec Caverns runs guided walks through large limestone formations, and Fisher Cave inside Meramec State Park offers tours with hand-held lights on a seasonal basis. The park also has more than 13 miles of hiking trails, a visitor center, and a store.
Families staying at Pin Oak RV Resort can use the pool, mini-golf, fishing lake, and playground on site, with Six Flags St. Louis about forty-five minutes east.

Peak season runs Memorial Day through Labor Day. Summers are warm and humid with average highs in the upper 80s Fahrenheit, and thunderstorms are common. Meramec State Park campground fills quickly on summer weekends, and float trips book up on Fridays and Saturdays. Weekday stays are noticeably quieter.
Spring is the wettest stretch, with March through May normally the wettest months. River levels can rise fast after heavy storms, so paddlers should check gauges before launching. Fall brings cooler nights, hardwood color along the bluffs, and thinner crowds; October is noticeably calmer than midsummer.
Winter is cold with occasional snow and low daytime temperatures. Meramec State Park is open year-round, with sections 1, 2, and 3 operating year-round and electric sites available in all seasons, though the Meramec Caverns campground is open April 1 through October 31 and closes for the winter.

How to book campgrounds near Saint Clair
State park sites at Meramec are reserved through the Missouri State Parks system, which now accepts bookings up to 12 months in advance. Sites range from basic to electric, electric/water, and sewer/electric/water, with group tent areas. Summer weekends and cabins go early, so plan far ahead.
Private campgrounds handle their own reservations. Pin Oak RV Resort books online through RJourney with pull-through and back-in full-hookup sites in 20, 30, and 50 amp. Meramec Campground takes reservations online and offers full hookups with WiFi. Meramec Caverns Natural Campground accepts reservations for its 40 electric hookup sites by phone. For popular holiday weekends, target six to eight weeks of lead time.
What to expect on the ground
Meramec State Park Campground accommodates RVs with full hookups alongside tent sites in a large open meadow between the Meramec River and Highway 44, and the entrance road is narrow with a notable grade on the drive from the visitor center to the loops. Big rigs are welcome but should plan the approach.
Cell service is spotty inside Meramec State Park, though calls generally work near the shower houses. Meramec Campground has 30 amp and 50 amp electric hookups, water hookups, sewer hookups, and WiFi. Bathhouses at state and private parks are generally clean, though shower conditions vary by loop.
Expect mosquitoes near the river in summer, ticks on trails, and possible flash flooding after heavy rain.

Missouri is consistently one of the more affordable fuel states in the country, which helps your travel budget stretch. Expect Class C motorhomes to get 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 MPG), and Class B campervans 16 to 20 MPG. Gas stations along I-44 at Saint Clair Exit 240, Sullivan, and Bourbon all have easy RV-friendly pull-throughs. For a typical 4-night, 400-mile loop through Meramec Caverns and the Ozarks, budget around $150 to $250 in fuel for a Class C. Filling up in Saint Clair before heading deeper into the Ozarks often saves you a few cents per gallon.

Earlier is better, especially for summer. Missouri State Parks like Meramec and Robertsville take reservations through the official Missouri State Parks reservation system, and prime weekend sites for Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day fill quickly. For private parks like Sugar Creek Resort and Bass' River Resort, aim for 2 to 3 months out in peak float season. Shoulder-season weekdays (May and September) can often be booked just a week ahead. Set a calendar reminder for the morning your booking window opens, then pounce on a riverfront site at Meramec State Park the moment it becomes available.

State highways like MO-30 and MO-47 are two-lane and gently rolling through Franklin County farmland. Watch for summer thunderstorms with strong crosswinds, occasional tornado warnings (Franklin County is in tornado-prone eastern Missouri, mostly active April to June), and deer crossings at dawn and dusk on rural roads. Download a NOAA weather radio app before you leave, and if a severe storm warning pops up, pull off at a sturdy truck stop along I-44 until it passes.
weather.gov/lsx/What amenities should I expect at campgrounds near Saint Clair?

Most RVs on RVezy in the Saint Clair area come with a queen or king bed, full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a wet or dry bathroom with hot shower, roof air conditioning, furnace, generator or shore power, dinette that converts to a bed, and seatbelts for every passenger seat. Many also include a TV, outdoor speakers, and an awning for warm Missouri evenings. Wi-Fi varies, so if you need to work remotely, message the host or plan to use your phone's hotspot (Verizon and AT&T both have strong coverage along I-44). Look for listings with a generator if you're planning to boondock at Sugar Creek or a Harvest Hosts winery.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Saint%20Clair%2C%20MissouriWhat add-ons can I get with my RV rental in Saint Clair?

Pickup is usually at the host's home, but RV delivery is widely available across Franklin County for a per-mile fee. Mileage allowances vary by listing, so always check the daily limit and overage rate before booking. Bundle delivery, linens, and a kitchen kit for a true turnkey campervan rental Saint Clair experience and skip the Walmart run entirely.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Saint%20Clair%2C%20MissouriHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure, all handled inside RVezy. You'll pay your rental total (nightly rate, fees, add-ons, and protection plan) by credit or debit card when you book, and the funds are held until your trip starts. Hosts also collect a refundable security deposit, separate from your booking payment, which is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after the trip assuming there's no damage or excessive cleaning. To avoid surprises, do a thorough walkthrough at pickup, take date-stamped photos, and return the RV with the same fuel and propane level. Keep all your pickup and dropoff photos in a single album on your phone for a quick, smooth release of your deposit.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park or overnight an RV in Saint Clair?
You've got solid options for figuring out where to park an RV in Saint Clair. Overnight street parking inside city limits is generally not permitted for RVs, but some Walmart locations in the area (such as the one in Sullivan, about 15 miles west) may allow one-night stays with a quick check at the customer service desk. For a real campground experience, Sugar Creek Resort on the Meramec is the closest full-hookup option to downtown Saint Clair, and Meramec State Park is just 20 minutes away. Day parking for sightseeing is easy at Evergreen Park and near the Route 66 hot and cold water tower photo spot. If you want to stay right in town, ask your RVezy host about delivery to a friend's driveway, a common arrangement in Franklin County.
