Campgrounds near Brevard, North Carolina
Brevard sits in Transylvania County in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, at the edge of Pisgah National Forest and within reach of DuPont State Recreational Forest, which spans more than 10,000 acres across Henderson and Transylvania counties. The area is marketed as the Land of Waterfalls, and its combination of national forest, state forest, and small-town amenities makes it a practical base for RV travelers exploring the southern Appalachians.
Private campgrounds close to town cover a range of RV needs. Ash Grove Mountain Cabins and Camping, Boylston Creek RV Park & Cabins, The Adventure Village and lodgings, Land of Waterfalls RV Campground, and Lazy J Campground all sit within the greater Brevard area and put visitors within reach of forest trailheads, the French Broad River, and downtown shops.
Pisgah National Forest also operates developed campgrounds in the area. Davidson River Campground lies about four miles west of Brevard at an elevation of 2,150 feet, though it is currently closed while the U.S. Forest Service and Naventure modernize the facility, with reopening anticipated in September 2026.
Things to do near Brevard
Waterfall hikes are the main draw. DuPont State Recreational Forest spans more than 10,000 acres and provided filming locations for The Hunger Games and The Last of the Mohicans, with popular falls including Hooker, Triple, High, and Bridal Veil, connected by a network of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails.
Inside Pisgah National Forest, popular stops include Looking Glass Falls, Sliding Rock, and the Cradle of Forestry. The Davidson River offers trout fishing along with tubing and swimming, and the Blue Ridge Parkway runs along the northern edge of the district for scenic driving and overlook stops.
In town, Main Street Brevard offers restaurants, breweries, and outfitters that rent bikes, tubes, and fishing gear.

Brevard has a humid subtropical mountain climate. Rainfall is spread fairly evenly throughout the year, though heavy downpours and afternoon thunderstorms can occur in the warmer months, winters are cold with occasional snowfall, and summers are warm. The town averages around 67 inches of rain annually, and winter snowfall typically totals only a few inches.
Late spring through early summer, roughly April into June, is a popular window, with waterfalls at full flow and comfortable hiking temperatures. Fall color usually peaks in mid to late October and drives strong weekend demand at campgrounds across the Pisgah Ranger District.
Winter stays are possible but plan for cold nights, potential snow, and reduced services at some forest campgrounds. Pisgah Ranger District campgrounds operate on varied seasonal schedules, and Davidson River Campground itself is closed during the ongoing modernization project, so verify status before planning a stay.

How to book a campsite near Brevard
Reservations at Pisgah National Forest campgrounds are handled through Recreation.gov. The standard booking window opens six months in advance, though some locations use different windows, so check the Seasons and Fees tab for the specific campground. Some Pisgah sites are reservable and some are first-come, first-served, so advance planning helps for peak weekends and fall color.
Private campgrounds in the Brevard area, including Ash Grove Mountain Cabins and Camping, Boylston Creek RV Park & Cabins, The Adventure Village and lodgings, Land of Waterfalls RV Campground, and Lazy J Campground, typically take direct reservations by phone or through their own websites. Summer weekends and October color weeks fill earliest.
Dispersed roadside camping is also allowed at designated numbered sites along gravel Forest Service roads in the Pisgah Ranger District, on a first-come, first-served basis.
What to expect when RV camping near Brevard
Davidson River Campground sits at an elevation of 2,150 feet, and the wider Brevard area sits at similar mountain elevations, so temperatures run cooler than the North Carolina lowlands and evenings can feel cool even in summer. Sites are commonly shaded and wooded, and many campgrounds are near creeks or rivers, so noise from moving water is part of the experience.
Access varies. Private RV parks near Brevard offer full or partial hookups, level pads, and easier road access for larger rigs. National forest facilities in the district typically provide hot showers and flush toilets, on-site ice and firewood, a dump station, and potable water, with generator use limited to set hours and restricted in some loops. Hookups at forest sites are limited.
Cell coverage is extremely limited inside the forest. Weekends draw crowds at the popular waterfall trailheads, so early arrivals and weekday visits reduce parking pressure.

Booking is low-risk: RVezy applies a standard cancellation policy to every reservation, including a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in your Brevard dates with confidence. Refund amounts depend on how far ahead of your trip you cancel, and RVezy support can help if severe weather or a host cancellation affects your plans. help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Brevard?
Yes, pet-friendly RV rental in Brevard is easy to find on RVezy, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when you search. Many Transylvania County hosts welcome dogs and some even include pet bowls, blankets, and outdoor leashes. Brevard is a fantastically dog-friendly town: leashed pups are welcome on most trails in Pisgah National Forest, at Hooker Falls in DuPont State Forest, and on the patios of downtown spots like Oskar Blues Brewery and Brevard Brewing Company. Pro tip: Pisgah Forest RV Park even has a fenced off-leash dog area, so your pup gets to play too after a day chasing waterfalls.
fs.usda.gov/recarea/nfsnc/recreation/recarea/?recid=48114Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Brevard?
Yes, RV delivery in Brevard is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers nervous about driving a big rig on mountain roads. Many local hosts will deliver your motorhome or travel trailer directly to nearby campgrounds like Davidson River Campground, Ecusta RV Park, or Pisgah Forest RV Park, level it, hook up water and power, and give you a full walkthrough before leaving. Just filter for Delivery when searching and check each listing's delivery radius and fee, which typically scales with distance. Pro tip: delivery is a smart move if you're heading deep into the Pisgah Ranger District where Forest Service roads can be narrow and winding.
fs.usda.gov/recarea/nfsnc/recarea/?recid=48064How far can I drive my RV rental from Brevard on a typical trip?
You've got serious range from Brevard, and RVezy hosts set mileage policies that work for both quick getaways and bigger road trips, with some offering unlimited mileage. From Brevard, you're about 35 miles (45 minutes) to Asheville, 50 miles to Great Smoky Mountains National Park's Cherokee entrance, 130 miles to Charlotte, and roughly 220 miles to Charleston, SC for a beach pivot. The Blue Ridge Parkway sits right above town, putting hundreds of scenic miles within easy reach. Check the listing's mileage allowance and per-mile overage rate before booking, and message the host if you're planning an extended loop. Pro tip: looping the Parkway from Brevard to Boone and back is a classic RV road trip from Brevard.
nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/index.htmWhere can I stay overnight in my RV near Brevard?
You have great options for RV camping in Brevard. Top picks include Davidson River Campground inside Pisgah National Forest (bookable on Recreation.gov), Pisgah Forest RV Park & Campground with full hookups and a fenced dog park, Ecusta RV Park on the French Broad River, and Adventure Village & Lodging on wooded acreage just outside town. The Pisgah Ranger District also offers dispersed roadside sites on a first-come, first-served basis along forest roads. Pro tip: book Davidson River sites the moment your dates open six months out on Recreation.gov, riverside spots vanish fast for fall color season.
recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/231962When is the best time to visit Brevard in an RV?
Brevard is a true four-season RV destination, but the sweet spots are mid-April through June and mid-September through late October. Spring brings rhododendron blooms, waterfalls at peak flow, and 60s to 70s°F days, perfect for hiking. Summer days run 75 to 85°F with cool mountain nights in the 50s and 60s, ideal for tubing the French Broad River. Fall foliage typically peaks in mid to late October, drawing leaf-peepers from across the Southeast. Winter sees daytime 40s to 50s°F with occasional snow at higher elevations and quieter campgrounds. Pro tip: time your visit for late May to catch the White Squirrel Festival, a Brevard original celebrating the town's famous resident rodents.
weather.gov/gsp/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving in Brevard?
You'll be just fine, even if it's your first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host provides a thorough orientation at pickup, walking you through driving the rig, leveling, hookups, slide-outs, and the dump process before you ever leave their driveway. Brevard's main roads like US-64, US-276, and NC-280 are well-paved and RV-friendly, and once you're at a campground like Davidson River or Pisgah Forest RV Park, you can park the rig and explore by car or bike. Nervous about driving mountain curves? Choose a smaller Class C motorhome or campervan rental in Brevard, or book delivery and skip the drive entirely. Pro tip: take Highway 276 slowly and enjoy the views of Looking Glass Falls right from the road.
ncdot.gov/travel-maps/Pages/default.aspxWhat if something breaks down during my Brevard RV trip?
You are covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so if you get a flat tire on the Blue Ridge Parkway or have a generator issue at your campsite, help is one call away. Your host is also a great first point of contact for quirks specific to their RV. RVezy support is available before, during, and after your trip to coordinate solutions. Pro tip: cell service can be spotty deep in Pisgah National Forest, so save the roadside assistance number and your host's number offline before heading toward Sliding Rock or Black Balsam Knob.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Brevard RV rental on a longer road trip out of state?
Absolutely, Brevard is an incredible launchpad for a multi-state RV road trip. Popular routes include driving the Blue Ridge Parkway north into Virginia, heading west to Great Smoky Mountains National Park (about 90 minutes), south to Greenville, SC (60 miles), or southeast to Charleston's beaches (about 4 hours). US travel is welcome on RVezy bookings. Travel to Mexico is not permitted because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. If you're considering crossing into Canada, message the host directly to confirm, as it depends on their listing and insurance. Pro tip: the Cherohala Skyway and Tail of the Dragon are doable day loops, but check your RV's length restrictions, the Dragon's tight curves favor smaller rigs.
nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/index.htmWhat kind of fuel mileage should I budget for around Brevard?
Budgeting fuel for your Brevard RV trip is straightforward once you know the numbers. Class B campervans typically get 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 MPG, larger Class A coaches 6 to 10 MPG, and trucks towing travel trailers about 9 to 14 MPG. Mountain driving on US-276 and the Blue Ridge Parkway will trim those numbers a bit. North Carolina gas prices generally run slightly below the national average, and you'll find convenient fill-ups on US-64 in Brevard before heading into the forest. Pro tip: fuel up in town before climbing toward Pisgah Inn or the Parkway, stations are scarce once you're in the national forest.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Brevard?
Book early and you'll have your pick of the best sites. For Davidson River Campground inside Pisgah National Forest, reservations open six months ahead on Recreation.gov and peak summer and October foliage weekends sell out within days. Private parks like Pisgah Forest RV Park, Ecusta RV Park, and Boylston Creek RV Park typically fill 2 to 3 months ahead for weekends from May through October. Midweek stays are easier to grab last-minute. Pro tip: if Davidson River is full, set a Recreation.gov availability alert and check Friday mornings, cancellations release in waves and you can snag a riverside site that fits your RV camping in Brevard plans perfectly.
recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/231993What are driving conditions like in and around Brevard?
Brevard driving is scenic and very manageable for RVs of all sizes. The main routes, US-64, US-276, and NC-280, are paved, well-maintained, and used by RVs daily. Inside Pisgah National Forest, US-276 climbs and curves with grades up to 6%, so use lower gears descending toward Looking Glass Falls and Sliding Rock. Avoid narrow gravel Forest Service roads like FSR 1206 in larger Class A motorhomes. The Blue Ridge Parkway has length restrictions through some tunnels north of NC-215, so check tunnel clearances on the NPS site. Winter occasionally brings ice above 3,000 feet. Pro tip: download offline maps before leaving Brevard, GPS gets unreliable deep in Pisgah.
nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/rv-and-trailer-information.htmWhat amenities will I find at Brevard area campgrounds?
Expect a great mix of comfort and nature. Private parks like Pisgah Forest RV Park, Ecusta RV Park, and Boylston Creek RV Park offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, and propane refills, with rates typically $45 to $70 per night. Davidson River Campground in Pisgah National Forest offers shaded sites with potable water and bathhouses but no individual hookups, so you'll rely on your RV's freshwater and holding tanks. Dump stations are available at most private parks and at the Davidson River area. Pro tip: top off fresh water in Brevard before heading to dispersed sites in the Pisgah Ranger District, where 65 roadside spots offer fire rings and tent pads but no water or trash service.
fs.usda.gov/recarea/nfsnc/recreation/recarea/?recid=48064What's typically included inside an RV rental in Brevard?
Modern comforts come standard. Most motorhome rentals in Brevard come fully equipped with a queen or king bed, dinette, full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, often a convection oven), bathroom with shower and toilet, air conditioning, propane furnace, and plenty of seatbelts for the road. Many rigs include a TV, indoor and outdoor speakers, and a generator for off-grid use, and an increasing number offer Wi-Fi hotspots or Starlink, a real plus given Pisgah's spotty cell service. Hosts typically provide a starter kit with linens, towels, kitchenware, and outdoor chairs. Pro tip: confirm generator hours and Wi-Fi setup with your host if you plan to work remotely from a creekside site near Brevard.
fs.usda.gov/visit/destination/pisgah-national-forestWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about for my Brevard rental?
Brevard hosts offer plenty of helpful extras to customize your trip. Common add-ons include bike racks (Brevard is a mountain biking mecca), kayak or paddleboard mounts for the French Broad River, generators, outdoor grills, fire pit kits, linen packages, and pet kits. Pickup is usually at the host's home or storage location near Brevard, Pisgah Forest, or Hendersonville, with delivery and setup available from many hosts. Mileage policies vary: some include 100 to 150 miles per day with a per-mile fee beyond that, while others offer unlimited mileage, which is ideal if you're planning Blue Ridge Parkway exploring. Pro tip: bundle delivery + setup + a bike rack for a stress-free arrival at Davidson River or DuPont State Forest trailheads.
ncparks.gov/state-parks/gorges-state-parkHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy in Brevard?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay through RVezy at booking, never directly to the host, with the trip total charged to your card on file. A separate security deposit is held (not charged) on your card before pickup to cover potential incidentals like minor damage or excess mileage, and it is released after the trip once the RV is returned in good condition. The deposit amount varies by listing and RV class. To avoid issues, do a detailed walkthrough video at pickup with your host, follow the mileage and generator rules, and return the rig clean with tanks dumped if requested. Pro tip: most Brevard hosts can point you to a nearby dump station to make returns smooth.
