Campgrounds and RV parks near Chocowinity, NC

Chocowinity sits on the south shore of the Pamlico River in Beaufort County, eastern North Carolina, just across the water from the town of Washington. The area is defined by wide tidal rivers, cypress swamps, and pine flatwoods, making it a practical base for RV travelers who want river access without the crowds of the Outer Banks. Most RV parks in the area are private, full-hookup resorts rather than public campgrounds. Twin Lakes RV and Camping Resort sits on a peninsula between the Pamlico River and Chocowinity Bay and offers boat ramps providing access to both. Tranters Creek Resort and Campground, Cotton Patch Landing, Manning RV Campsites, and Farm Country Campground fill out the nearby options, ranging from waterfront resorts to quieter rural sites. Goose Creek State Park lies east of town on the north side of the river in Beaufort County, offering coastal experiences from wetlands along the Pamlico River to a cypress swamp viewed from a long boardwalk. Historic Bath, the oldest town in North Carolina, is a short drive away.

The RV parks around Chocowinity are almost all privately operated, so reservations are made directly with each property rather than through a central agency. Twin Lakes is part of the Thousand Trails and Encore park system, and sites can be reserved with the park whether or not you are a member; members get park-to-park access and longer booking windows across the Thousand Trails and Trails Collection network. Goose Creek State Park campsites are booked online through ncparks.gov/reservations or by calling 1-877-722-6762, with reservations available up to 6 months in advance. Sites are limited and popular on spring and fall weekends, so reserve as far ahead as the system allows. For summer holidays and fall foliage weekends, plan to book several weeks out. Waterfront and pull-through sites go first, and rig-length restrictions apply at some of the older rural parks, so confirm site dimensions before arrival.
