Campgrounds and RV parks near Fairview, NC

Fairview is a small Blue Ridge community in Buncombe County, roughly a twenty-minute drive southeast of downtown Asheville. The area sits in the foothills between Asheville, Black Mountain, and Lake Lure, which puts RV travellers within easy reach of the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore Estate, Chimney Rock State Park, and Pisgah National Forest. Most full-hookup RV parks used by Fairview visitors cluster along the I-40 corridor in Swannanoa and on the southern Asheville side. Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground and Asheville East KOA Holiday are the closest full-service options and sit only minutes apart in Swannanoa. Creekside Mountain Camping, Oak Fern RV Park, and Rutledge Lake RV Resort round out the private-park choices within a short drive. Fairview itself is rural and agricultural, with rolling pasture, working farms such as Hickory Nut Gap, and quieter road access than the busier Asheville-Weaverville side. RV renters typically use it as a base camp: mountain scenery at the campground, city amenities a short drive west.

The private parks around Fairview take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone, and most also list availability on third-party booking platforms. Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground, Asheville East KOA Holiday, Creekside Mountain Camping, and Rutledge Lake RV Resort all accept advance bookings for pull-through and larger back-in sites, which fill first. Oak Fern RV Park is a small owner-occupied park geared to travellers fifty-five and older and best suited to rigs under about thirty-eight feet, so call ahead to confirm fit. For public land, Pisgah National Forest campgrounds such as Lake Powhatan and North Mills River are reservable through Recreation.gov on a six-month rolling window, with a limited number of first-come, first-served sites at some locations. For October leaf season and summer holiday weekends, book as early as possible. Confirm rig length limits, hookup type, and any seasonal closures before paying a deposit.
