Campgrounds and RV parks near Fruitland, NC

Fruitland is an unincorporated community in northeastern Henderson County, sitting at about 2,556 feet in elevation in the Blue Ridge foothills. It lies roughly 7 miles northeast of Hendersonville and about 19 miles southeast of Asheville, with U.S. Route 64 running along its southern edge and leading northeast toward Bat Cave and Chimney Rock. The area was named for the apple orchards that shaped its early economy, and the surrounding hills still support orchards, nurseries, and sod farms. For RV travelers, the appeal is a cluster of private campgrounds set among mountain scenery, with easy access to downtown Hendersonville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, DuPont State Recreational Forest, and Pisgah National Forest. Campgrounds close to Fruitland include Jaymar Travel Park, Apple Valley Travel Park, Lazy Boy Travel Park, Red Gates Cottages and RV Park, and Blue Ridge Travel Park. Most are small to mid-sized private parks catering primarily to RVs, with a mix of seasonal and year-round operations at elevations near 2,100 to 2,200 feet.

Private parks around Fruitland handle reservations directly by phone or through their own websites, and some also list on third-party platforms. Small parks like Red Gates Cottages and RV Park have limited sites, so calling ahead is the most reliable option, especially for big-rig or full-hookup requests. Nearby public lands use separate systems. Sites in Pisgah National Forest and at federal recreation areas are booked through Recreation.gov, generally on a six-month rolling window. North Carolina State Parks, including Gorges, use the state's reservation portal at ncparks.reserveamerica.com. For apple festival weekend, fall foliage weekends in October, and major summer holidays, plan to reserve two to three months in advance. Weeknight and shoulder-season stays are usually easier to secure on shorter notice.
