Campgrounds and RV parks near Maggie Valley, NC

Maggie Valley sits in Haywood County in western North Carolina at roughly 3,000 feet of elevation, along Jonathan Creek. It is about 10 minutes from the Cataloochee Ski Area and serves as a basecamp for exploring Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway, with hiking, mountain biking, and whitewater rafting nearby. The Pisgah and Nantahala national forests are both within easy reach for day trips. At 3,000 feet elevation, the valley itself stays accessible year-round, though higher terrain can see snow and ice in winter. RV renters typically choose between private full-hookup parks in and around the valley and rustic National Park Service campgrounds a short drive away. Options close to town along Jonathan Creek include Rippling Waters Creekside RV Park, Hillbilly Creekside Campground, Cross Creek RV Park, Stonebridge RV Resort and Campgrounds, and Stonebridge RV Resort. Site inventory and length limits vary by park, so renters with larger rigs should confirm site dimensions when booking. The section of Jonathan Creek that passes through town is designated Mountain Heritage Trout Water, so creekside sites appeal to families that want fishing steps from the rig.

Private RV parks in Maggie Valley, including Stonebridge RV Resort and Campgrounds and Cross Creek RV Park, take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Book six to twelve months out for summer weekends and October color; shoulder-season midweek stays are easier to secure. Balsam Mountain Campground, inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park and operated by the National Park Service, requires reservations and enforces a maximum vehicle length of 24 feet due to a narrow campground road and parallel parking. Sites are booked through Recreation.gov up to six months in advance, and there is no on-site payment or first-come, first-served option, so renters must reserve before driving up. Cell service at the campground is very limited.
