Campgrounds and RV parks near Norlina, NC

Norlina sits in Warren County just south of the Virginia line, placing RV travelers within a short drive of two large reservoirs that anchor most camping in the area. Kerr Lake State Recreation Area is a collective of eight access areas around the shoreline of a 50,000-acre reservoir, with seven campgrounds and hundreds of campsites to choose from. Lake Gaston, roughly 20,000 acres and shared with Virginia, provides the second cluster of options to the east. Closest to town, Kimball Point, Satterwhite Point, and Nutbush Creek make up the Kerr Lake State Recreation Area sites most Norlina visitors use. Tobacco Farm Campground offers a smaller, private alternative, and Lake Gaston Americamps sits on the north shore across the state line in Bracey, Virginia, still an easy drive from Norlina. Kerr Lake includes 3,376 acres of woodlands along the shores of the man-made reservoir, and most of its sites are wooded with lake views. Combined with Lake Gaston's private resorts, the region gives RV renters a mix of state-park simplicity and full-service commercial parks within about a half-hour of Norlina.

Kerr Lake State Recreation Area sites, including Kimball Point, Satterwhite Point, and Nutbush Creek, are booked through the North Carolina State Parks reservation portal on ReserveAmerica. Reservations must be made at least one day ahead of arrival and can be made up to six months in advance, which sets the booking window for peak summer weekends. Reservations are highly recommended, especially during peak seasons, and some loops may hold sites first-come, first-served, particularly for primitive camping. Lake Gaston Americamps and Tobacco Farm Campground are booked directly through the operators rather than a state portal. For RV renters, confirm site length, hookup type (electric only versus water and electric), and back-in versus pull-through before booking. Not every Kerr Lake loop supports large rigs.
