Rolesville camping overview
Rolesville sits in northern Wake County, minutes from Falls Lake, a 12,000-acre reservoir on the Neuse River operated as recreation land by North Carolina State Parks. Falls Lake State Recreation Area is the primary public camping destination for the area and is made up of several non-connecting access areas along the shoreline.
RV travelers have two main state-park options within a short drive: Holly Point, off New Light Road in Wake Forest, and Rolling View, off Baptist Road on the Durham County side. Both offer wooded back-in sites, modern bathhouses, and dump stations, with electric hookups available in designated loops. BW Wells Group Campgrounds is a group-only, tent-oriented area with hike-in sites and is not set up for RVs or trailers.
Private options near Rolesville include 70 East RV and Mobile Home Park and Coopers Mobile Home Park and RVs, which cater to longer stays and travelers wanting a simpler setup close to US-64 and I-540.
Things to do around Rolesville
Falls Lake is the main draw. Holly Point has a swim beach, a boat ramp, and shoreline fishing, with campsites set among tall pines close to the water. Rolling View also has a swim beach and a boat ramp, plus marina access on the Durham side of the lake for fuel and slip service.
Hikers can pick up the Mountains-to-Sea Trail, which follows the south shore of Falls Lake for a long stretch between Falls Dam and the Rolling View area. BW Wells is set among old shade trees near the shoreline and offers walk-in access down to the lake.
Rolesville is a short drive from downtown Wake Forest for groceries and supplies, and roughly 25 minutes from downtown Raleigh for museums, the state fairgrounds, and pro sports.

Peak camping season runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, when heat, long daylight, and lake swimming pull the biggest crowds. Waterfront sites at Holly Point and Rolling View book out first, and a two-night minimum applies on holiday weekends when reserved more than 14 days out.
Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel. Days are warm, humidity is lower than midsummer, and shoulder-season weekends still see strong demand at hookup sites. Monarch butterflies pass through the Falls Lake area in spring and fall.
Winter is the quietest stretch. Entrance fees to Falls Lake are only charged on weekends in April, May, and September and daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day, so off-season visits are simpler. North Carolina State Parks is running a multi-year wastewater upgrade at Falls Lake that has temporarily affected Beaverdam and Holly Point, with restrooms and camping areas closed during construction. Confirm the current status of any specific loop on the park website before booking, since closures shift as the project progresses.

Payment is straightforward and secure: you pay through RVezy at the time of booking using a credit or debit card, no cash or off-platform transfers (this protects you and keeps your protection plan valid). A refundable security deposit, typically a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the RV, is held on your card before pickup and released after the host confirms the rig was returned in good shape. To avoid deposit issues, complete the pickup walkthrough carefully, photograph existing damage, and return the RV with the agreed fuel and propane levels and tanks dumped if required. Pro tip: keep all receipts from your trip, they make any post-trip questions a quick conversation.
