Camping near Stanfield, North Carolina
Stanfield sits in Stanly County in the central Piedmont of North Carolina, roughly halfway between Charlotte and the Uwharrie region. The town is small and rural, and most RV travelers use it as a base for reaching two very different draws: the racing corridor around Concord and the outdoor recreation clustered around Morrow Mountain State Park, Lake Tillery, and Uwharrie National Forest.
RV options within a short drive are a mix of private parks and event-driven resorts. Yates Family Camping, Ver-El RV Park and Campground, Glenwood Acres RV Park, and Apollo RV Park serve travelers looking for full or partial hookups in a quieter setting. Camping World Racing Resort sits at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord and functions as both a race-week campground and a year-round full hookup park.
Public-land camping is available a short drive east. Morrow Mountain State Park and Uwharrie National Forest add tent, RV, and primitive options for travelers who want river access, hiking, or OHV riding within the same trip.
Things to do near Stanfield
Motorsports drive a lot of visits to this area. Charlotte Motor Speedway hosts NASCAR events including the Coca-Cola 600 and the Bank of America Roval 400, and the neighboring zMAX Dragway runs NHRA drag racing. The Richard Petty Driving Experience operates at the speedway for guests who want to drive a stock car.
For outdoor time, Morrow Mountain State Park offers more than 15 miles of hiking trails, bridle trails, a summit view, and access to Lake Tillery for paddling and fishing. The park operates the only day-use swimming pool in the North Carolina state parks system, open in summer. Uwharrie National Forest covers roughly 50,000 acres and includes the Badin Lake Recreation Area, the Uwharrie National Recreation Trail, and a public OHV trail system.
Families traveling with kids often add the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro and Concord Mills outlet shopping to the itinerary.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel in this part of the Piedmont. March through May brings mild days, blooming hardwoods, and lower humidity, though rainfall picks up and afternoon thunderstorms become common by late May. Wildflower and dogwood displays peak in Morrow Mountain and the Uwharries in April.
Summer is hot and humid. Charlotte area highs regularly reach 90°F or more from June through August, and summer months tend to see the year's heaviest rainfall from convective storms. Summer is also peak race and event season at Charlotte Motor Speedway, so sites at Camping World Racing Resort and nearby private parks fill quickly on race weekends. Book well ahead if a trip overlaps with the Coca-Cola 600 in late May or NHRA events at zMAX Dragway.
Fall brings cooler nights, drier weather, and hardwood color through October and early November. Winter is cool rather than harsh, with occasional freezes and light snow possible in January; many private parks stay open year round, but state park facilities may run reduced hours.

This was my first experience personally using an RV rental service and it could not have gone better. Dave L. - Mar 2026
Cannot say enough good things about our experience renting from Corey. Very helpful with the renting process and what to expect. I chose the drop off option and it went very smooth - Corey gave a detailed rundown of the RV making sure I knew the basics. Everything was as described, well maintained, and just what we were looking for for our few days away. Corey was quick to respond when I had any questions and made sure everything was good. Highly recommend renting from Corey!

How to book campgrounds in the area
Private RV parks in the Stanfield and greater Concord area, including Yates Family Camping, Ver-El RV Park and Campground, Glenwood Acres RV Park, and Apollo RV Park, take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Availability is tightest on Charlotte Motor Speedway race weekends and on major summer holidays, so booking several weeks out is recommended.
Camping World Racing Resort at Charlotte Motor Speedway has 380 full hookup sites and takes reservations by phone and online through the speedway. Event reservations follow race-week check-in schedules set by the speedway, and non-event daily camping is available year round through the same booking system.
Morrow Mountain State Park uses the North Carolina State Parks reservation system on ReserveAmerica for campsites and cabins, with a booking window of up to six months in advance. Uwharrie National Forest developed sites use recreation.gov, while primitive dispersed camping in the forest is generally first come, first served.
What to expect on the ground
The terrain around Stanfield is rolling Piedmont farmland transitioning east into the ancient, forested hills of the Uwharries. Roads are paved and generally easy for larger rigs, and I-85 through Concord provides the main access route. Cell service is reliable near towns but can drop inside state park and national forest areas.
Campground styles vary widely. The Concord speedway campground is a large, gravel-pad park with full hookups, WiFi, and race-day energy. Smaller private parks near Stanfield tend to be quieter, with grass and shade and a more rural feel. State park and national forest sites lean rustic, with some offering electric and water hookups and others being tent-only or primitive.
Expect warm, humid summer evenings, biting insects near water, and occasional afternoon thunderstorms. Deer and wild turkey are common; black bears occur in the Uwharries but are uncommon near developed sites.

ncparks.gov/state-parks/morrow-mountain-state-parkWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Stanfield, North Carolina?
Great news, a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Stanfield. North Carolina does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for any RV available on the RVezy platform, including Class A motorhomes and fifth wheels. Approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your identification right inside the booking flow, so there are no extra trips to the DMV. Visiting from abroad? An International Driving Permit paired with your home license works. Once you're approved, you'll get a full walkthrough at pickup so your first Stanfield RV trip starts with confidence.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat's included for protection and roadside help on my Stanfield RV rental?
You're covered from the moment you book. Every RV rental in Stanfield through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so a flat tire on NC Highway 24 or a dead battery at Morrow Mountain State Park is handled with one call. Protection plans cover damage to the RV at different coverage levels, and you choose your plan during checkout, not the host, so you can match it to your comfort level. Roadside assistance is included with every protection plan at no extra cost. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip, so you're never figuring things out alone on a back road in Stanly County.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Stanfield RV booking?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy, so the rules are consistent across every listing. If you cancel within the grace period right after booking, you receive a full refund. After that, your refund depends on how far out your trip is from the pickup date. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or provides travel credits so your plans aren't left in limbo. The practical move: book your Stanfield RV trip as soon as you spot the right rig, knowing the platform-level policy gives you clear, predictable flexibility before Morrow Mountain weekends sell out.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Stanfield RV rental?
Absolutely, plenty of hosts welcome pups. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to instantly see every pet-friendly RV rental in Stanfield, then message the host about any extra cleaning fee or weight limit before you book. Once you're on the road, your dog will love it here: Morrow Mountain State Park allows leashed pets at campsites and on trails, and the nearby Uwharrie National Forest has miles of leash-friendly hiking. Lake Tillery's shoreline picnic areas are also leash-friendly. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl, the Piedmont summer humidity is no joke, and bring proof of rabies vaccination in case a campground host asks at check-in.
ncparks.gov/state-parks/morrow-mountain-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near Stanfield?
Yes, and it's a game-changer for first-timers. Many Stanfield RVezy hosts offer RV delivery to popular spots like Morrow Mountain State Park, Badin Lake, and private campgrounds across Stanly and Cabarrus counties. Filter by 'Delivery' on the search page, and the host will drive the RV to your site, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Delivery fees are usually based on round-trip mileage from the host's location and are quoted upfront. For motorhome rental Stanfield trips, delivery means you can fly into Charlotte Douglas (CLT), Uber 45 minutes out, and step straight into a ready-to-camp rig.
charlotteairport.com/How do mileage limits work, and how far can I travel from Stanfield?
Hosts set their own mileage policies, and many Stanfield listings offer generous packages or even RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer trips. Daily allowances usually run 100 to 200 miles, with extra miles around $0.35 to $0.50 each. From Stanfield, you've got incredible range without burning through miles: Charlotte sits 35 miles southwest, Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway are 145 miles west, Wilmington's beaches are about 200 miles east, and Great Smoky Mountains National Park is roughly 240 miles. Pro tip: if you're planning an RV road trip from Stanfield to the coast or mountains, message the host before booking to negotiate a flat mileage add-on, it's usually cheaper than per-mile overages.
ncdot.gov/travel-maps/Pages/default.aspxWhere are the best campgrounds near Stanfield, NC?
You're spoiled for choice within a 30-minute drive. Morrow Mountain State Park (Albemarle, about 15 miles east) is the local favorite, with 100+ sites, electric hookups, hot showers, and lake access. Uwharrie National Forest's Badin Lake Recreation Area offers waterfront RV camping with a swim beach about 25 miles northeast. Frank Liske Park in Concord (20 miles west) has full-hookup RV sites and is great for families. For a private option, Fieldstone Farm RV Resort in Mocksville and Carolina Pines RV Resort near Pageland, SC are both inside two hours. Book Morrow Mountain six months out for fall weekends through the North Carolina State Parks ReserveAmerica system, that's when the Uwharries hit peak color.
ncparks.gov/state-parks/morrow-mountain-state-parkWhen is the best time to take an RV trip from Stanfield?
Stanfield shines in spring and fall, the Piedmont's secret weapons. Mid-March through May brings 60 to 78 degree days, dogwoods blooming across the Uwharries, and uncrowded campgrounds. October and early November deliver crisp 50 to 70 degree weather and brilliant red-and-gold foliage at Morrow Mountain. Summer (June through August) is hot and humid, typically 85 to 92 degrees with afternoon thunderstorms, but lake swimming at Badin and Tillery makes it worth it. Winter is mild, often 40 to 55 degrees during the day, which means year-round RV camping Stanfield is genuinely viable. Local insider tip: visit during the Uwharrie Mountain Run weekend in February if you love trail-running energy, or skip it for solitude.
weather.gov/gsp/I've never rented an RV before, will I be okay?
You're going to be just fine, most Stanfield renters are first-timers. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water system, propane, and dump procedures. You'll leave with their cell number for questions on the road, plus 24/7 RVezy roadside assistance for anything mechanical. For your first time renting an RV, consider a smaller Class C motorhome or a delivered travel trailer, both are easy to drive and park. Stanfield's quiet two-lane roads like NC-200 and US-52 are forgiving practice. Pro tip: do a slow lap of an empty Walmart parking lot in Albemarle right after pickup to get comfortable with the mirrors and turning radius.
ncdot.gov/initiatives-policies/safety/Pages/default.aspxWhat happens if the RV breaks down on my trip?
Take a breath, you're covered. Every RV rental in Stanfield booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, at no extra fee. One call dispatches help for flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and mechanical issues, whether you're parked at Morrow Mountain, cruising NC-24/27, or on a forest road in the Uwharries. The RVezy support team also coordinates directly with your host to sort repairs or alternative arrangements in rare cases. Save the roadside number in your phone before you leave Stanfield, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate at pickup, it speeds up any service call.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Stanfield RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes to neighboring states, that's part of the fun. Most Stanfield hosts welcome interstate travel to South Carolina (Myrtle Beach is 180 miles southeast), Tennessee, Georgia, and Virginia with no extra paperwork. Cross-border trips into Canada are sometimes allowed depending on the host and the insurance terms, so message the host directly through the listing before booking if Canada is on your itinerary. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because the insurance does not extend there. Popular multi-state runs from Stanfield include the Blue Ridge Parkway loop through Virginia and the Outer Banks via US-64. Confirm your route in the booking message so everyone's aligned before pickup.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goHow much should I budget for fuel on a Stanfield RV trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable, so let's get specific. Class C motorhomes near Stanfield average 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG), Class A rigs run 6 to 8 MPG, campervans hit 15 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. North Carolina gas prices typically sit a bit below the national average, around $2.90 to $3.30 per gallon in the Charlotte region. A weekend loop to Morrow Mountain and back (under 50 miles) is maybe $20 in fuel for a Class C. A longer Stanfield-to-Asheville-and-back trip (~300 miles) will run $90 to $130. Pro tip: fill up at the Sheetz or Circle K on US-52 in Albemarle, prices there usually beat anything closer to Charlotte.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Stanfield?
Sooner is better, especially for the marquee spots. Morrow Mountain State Park opens reservations six months ahead through the North Carolina State Parks system (reserveamerica.com), and prime fall weekends in October book solid within days. For Uwharrie National Forest's Badin Lake and Arrowhead campgrounds, book on Recreation.gov roughly four to six months out for holiday weekends, four to six weeks for regular weekends. Private RV parks in Stanly and Cabarrus counties usually have availability two to three weeks ahead even in summer. Local insider tip: if you strike out at Morrow Mountain, set a cancellation alert, the park sees frequent dropouts within 48 hours of arrival, and last-minute weekday sites are surprisingly easy to grab.
recreation.gov/camping/gateways/2725What are the driving conditions like around Stanfield?
Stanfield is a forgiving place to learn to drive an RV. The area is rolling Piedmont farmland with wide two-lane state roads like NC-200, US-52, and NC-24/27, light traffic outside of Charlotte rush hours, and very few steep grades. The one heads-up: roads inside Morrow Mountain State Park have tight turns and limited shoulders, so take it slow with rigs over 30 feet. Summer afternoons can bring sudden thunderstorms, pull over and wait them out, they usually clear in 20 minutes. Winter rarely brings snow, but an occasional ice event happens January through February. Avoid Uptown Charlotte if you're in a Class A, stick to I-485 around the city instead. Cell coverage is solid along all major routes.
drivenc.gov/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Stanfield?
Most local campgrounds have what you need, with a few quirks worth knowing. Morrow Mountain State Park offers 106 sites with electric and water hookups, hot showers, flush toilets, and a dump station, but no sewer at individual sites. Badin Lake Recreation Area in the Uwharrie National Forest provides electric sites, vault toilets, and potable water fill-ups. Private parks like Frank Liske in Concord deliver full hookups (electric, water, sewer) plus laundry and Wi-Fi. For dumping and freshwater fills mid-trip, Morrow Mountain's centralized dump station is open year-round to registered campers. Pro tip: top off freshwater in Albemarle before heading into the Uwharries, some forest sites have no spigot at all and you'll thank yourself later.
fs.usda.gov/recarea/nfsnc/recarea/?recid=48414What's typically inside the RVs available in Stanfield?
You'll be impressed by how loaded most rigs are. A typical motorhome rental Stanfield comes with a queen or king bed, full kitchen (fridge, freezer, three-burner stove, microwave, sink), wet or dry bathroom with shower and toilet, dinette that converts to a bed, air conditioning, propane furnace, and seatbelts for everyone riding. Class C and Class A motorhomes often add a TV, outdoor speakers, awning, and onboard generator for boondocking. Campervan rental Stanfield options are more compact but include a bed, mini-fridge, sink, and often a pop-top. Wi-Fi varies, many hosts include a hotspot, and cell signal is reliable across most of Stanly County, so streaming at the campsite usually works fine.
fcc.gov/consumers/guides/wireless-internet-serviceWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Hosts in Stanfield make trips turnkey with smart add-ons. Common options include linen and kitchen packages, camping chairs and outdoor rugs, portable grills, generators, bike racks, and kid or pet packages. Delivery and setup is one of the most popular add-ons, with fees typically based on round-trip mileage from the host's location and quoted upfront. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Stanfield with a 60 to 90 minute walkthrough, plan to arrive midday to maximize daylight for your first drive. Returns are typically late morning with a quick condition check. Pro tip: bundling delivery with a linen package keeps your turnaround simple and your campsite ready to enjoy from the moment you arrive.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Stanfield%2C%20North%20CarolinaHow do payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure. When you book your RV rental in Stanfield, RVezy charges your card through the platform, with no cash and no awkward handoffs with the host. The security deposit is separate from your booking payment and is placed as a temporary hold on your card before pickup, then released after return assuming no damage or excess mileage. To keep things smooth, do a thorough video walkaround at pickup and return with the host present, document tire condition and existing scratches, and stick to the agreed mileage and generator hours. Pro tip: keep your fuel and dump-station receipts, hosts appreciate seeing the rig returned fueled and tanks emptied, and it speeds up deposit release.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat are the best road trip destinations from Stanfield?
Stanfield's location in the heart of the Carolinas puts you within easy reach of everything. Try a weekend loop to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Asheville (145 miles, about 2.5 hours west) for mountain overlooks and craft breweries. Head to Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach (200 miles east, 3.5 hours) for an Atlantic coast escape. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is 240 miles west, perfect for a 4 to 5 day family RV trip Stanfield-style. Closer to home, Uwharrie National Forest (25 miles) and Lake Norman State Park (50 miles) are easy overnighters. Local insider tip: take NC-49 north toward Asheboro to hit the North Carolina Zoo, then continue to High Point, a quieter, prettier route than the interstates.
