Campgrounds and RV parks near Stony Point, NC

Stony Point sits in Alexander County in the western Piedmont of North Carolina, between Statesville to the south and the Brushy Mountains to the north. The area is rural, with rolling farmland, wooded ridges, and the South Yadkin River cutting through the countryside. Elevation runs roughly 900 to 1,200 feet, and the Blue Ridge foothills are within easy driving distance. RV travelers use Stony Point as a base for gem mining in Hiddenite, mountain biking and paddling at Lake Norman, and day trips into the Brushy Mountains and the broader western North Carolina foothills. Interstates 40 and 77 both pass within about 15 miles, making the area easy to reach from Charlotte, Winston-Salem, and points north. Campgrounds near Stony Point range from small family-run parks along the South Yadkin River to interstate-adjacent RV parks built for overnight travelers. Hiddenite Family Campground, New Hope Stables and Campgrounds, Statesville RV Park I-77, Statesville / I-77 KOA Journey, and Blake Farms Family RV Resort together cover most trip styles, from weekend family stays to quick pull-through stops.

Lake Norman State Park's family campground and cabins are reserved through the North Carolina State Parks system on ReserveAmerica. Reservations must be made at least one day ahead of arrival and can be made up to six months in advance. Peak-season weekends, especially from May through early October, tend to fill early, and preferred sites go first. Private parks handle their own bookings. Statesville / I-77 KOA Journey uses the KOA reservation system online or by phone, and it fills nightly during travel season because most guests are pass-through traffic on I-77. Hiddenite Family Campground, New Hope Stables and Campgrounds, Statesville RV Park I-77, and Blake Farms Family RV Resort accept direct reservations by phone or through their own websites. For race weekends and fall-color weekends, book several weeks out.
